Atmosphere was good.
I'm from with Texas, near the border, so I have a high bar for most Mexican restaurants to meet; I'll be upfront about that.
None of the 4 of us liked our food. I'll not go into much detail about the other 3, but one did say, the queso enchiladas was a sticky gluey cheese that was perhaps the last appetizing enchilada cheese they've tasted.
My issues: when attempting to eat at a new (to me) Mexican eatery, it's difficult to know what each place means by the words they use. By this, I don't mean difficulty understanding the language translation, but what one means when using a certain word. For a general example, quesadillas at one place may be small, and at another quite large. Or at one place quite thin with ingredients and another quite full.
What I ordered: The menu here offered few pictures. I ordered the combo #1, which was one enchilada, one quesadilla, and beef nachos. I asked for all veggies and salads, etc on the side. My wife likes them all way better than I do, as I prefer plain.
When ordering, I asked about the nachos and were told there were six.
I ordered a second enchilada to go with the one.
What I got: 1 enchilada (but the quality of the 1 was good) instead of the 2.
1 half quesadilla, as it would be called anywhere else I've ordered quesadillas. It was one average size tortilla folded in half.
It was okay. It was terrible as a "whole" quesadilla, but fine as a "half" quesadilla.
A pile of chips with a small handful of meat dropped on the pile. With veggies on top. This would be the saddest display of nachos I've seen in a proper Mexican restaurant.
I've been to NON-Mexican restaurants and Seth the pile method, but with way more added to it. I've, however, typically been served individually topped and quite separate chips, when told an order consists of X number nachos. Honestly, this is the only way I've ever desired to have them and it's the only way I've ever received them when at a Mexican restaurant (especially when the number of nachos is mentioned).
Because these were a sad demonstration of nachos and they weren't plain, I gave them to my wife and finished the 1 enchilada and 1 half quesadilla.
Our waiter had not returned before I finished for any reason and also specifically without the second enchilada that I reminded him of when my plate was placed.
I ended up getting my wife's because she ended up giving me hers.
I had nearly finished that one when we saw our waiter again and had him cancel the still pending enchilada order.
The enchiladas were good. I was disappointed in everything else.
Would I return? Not by my free choice, unless it's to make someone else happy if they really like it.
I thought I had emailed a picture but it...
Read moreLos Cucos is a definite must visit Mexican restaurant in the Woodlands! The overall experience there was fantastic! The service was excellent, the food was delicious (and not greasy) and the dining area was well maintained, clean, and busy. We came here with recommendations from friends. Yes, there are a lot of Mexican restaurants in the area but we were informed that Los Cucos had excellent food for very friendly prices. I concluded that their recommendation was good. We were greeted and seated rather quickly, even though the dining area was busy. *From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look that big but once you get inside, there's a pretty generous dining area. Soon after being seated, we were immediately greeted by our waiter who brought us drinks, chips and their fantastic salsas. The menu has quite a selection of items to choose from. It is very user-friendly, in the sense that there are photos for each of the foods listed on the menu. I have friends and family members that really appreciate a visual reference for each of the foods. After we ordered our food, it came out relatively quickly and were perfect portions! All of the food was fresh, handmade and most importantly not greasy. I've been to too many restaurants where you are left with a pool of grease but the food here was prepared in authentic Mexican style and was absolutely satisfactory! The spices and sauces tasted authentic and not too much salt, making the meal really enjoyable. The staff here is wonderful and attentive! They really do excel in service which makes a big difference when you're paying for a meal out. They were professional and courteous! In addition for the adventurous, Los Cucos also has Karaoke on Tuesday nights. I give lost Cucos two very big thumbs up! They work hard to provide a great dining experience which includes great service, excellent food and a wonderful ambiance! I definitely recommend Los Cucos for a...

Went with my partner last night and had a terrible experience with our effort of dining-in. First, we were sat at a dirty table. The host took us to the table then said wait here until I can clean it. Stood there waiting about 5 minutes for him to “clean it” as we watched him just wipe everything off the table onto the seat. Finally, we sat down, the waiter came and took MY drink order looked at my partner and walked off without asking him what he wanted to drink. The waiter came back with my drink, in this moment there was another very LARGE party at a table near us that was EXTREAMLY LOUD!!! I asked the waiter if we could move to another table and was told no he was unable to do anything mentioning that several other customers complained and they had already been moved so we were stuck. At this point, I got up and went to the front and asked for the manager who moved us to another table. The manager sat us down at a new table and took my partner drink order. When the manager returned with the drink, it had a DEAD FLY IN IT that my partner did not notice until he had already took a sip!!! At this point we were OVER IT. Keep in mind that the place already looked very dirty and dated upon us even walking in. This should have been our clue to turn around; but we decided to give it a try. NEVER AGAIN!!! And to add to it all the manager did not seem to care at all… her excuse was we are having a bad day… did nothing to try to correct the issue or turn our experience around; even after I mentioned to her that I was a VP at a nearby company and often times we order very large catering from the restaurant “Woodlands Location”. Her reply was “oh okay”… She didn’t have a care in the world. Needless to say we won’t be going back and I also, as of this morning instructed my assistant to never place a catering order again with this...
