For my first visit it's safe to say I will never return nor will I recommend this restaurant. Service was so slow, we had to reach out to our waitress to get service the whole time. She never once came up to us willing. Otherwise she was focused on other tables. The resturant is small, clean and decorated well. Wait time wasn't bad.

I will make it clear that the photos reflected under the dish name & number is NOT what you're getting. I ordered the stir fried noodles with vegetables, instead I got udon noodles with chicken, beef and shrimp. The shrimp fried rice was unusual see ohoto below, it was undercooked and was very yellow (like they used saffron to cook it) with no veggies & 5 large shrimps. Again not what was represented in the picture. A good 40 min had passed since we ate all of the food but it occurred to me we never go the magolian beef. I asked the waitress who took our order and she states we never ordered that. When clearly we did, it was the first thing we said and she repeated the order back correclty at that time. She briefly said it'll be out and ran to the back. The magolian beef was okay, it was mainly onions and peppers than meat, it was spicy. The only good thing was the chicken pan fried dumplings and the pork soup dumplings.

We noticed during our visit the waiters and the chef visited alot in the back by the register and looked over receipt orders. Seemed like something was not going well as the chef seemed angry.

Beware when paying they will consider babies under 1 yr old as customers and charge you gratuity. So when it's time to pay they don't show you a receipt they just hand you a device with the total. It's not until we paid that there was a receipt reflecting a total with gratuity plus a tip I...

  • Update 12/28: Gave this place another chance and same consistent experience with their food quality, choices and staff. Not even worth it!

*Update 12/22: I arrived at 2:25 pm to place a to-go order only to be told that their kitchen closes at 3. It does not specify that anywhere!

We visited on their soft opening day (12/14). It wasn’t busy at all, and we were greeted promptly upon arrival. However, we were informed that they had a very limited menu. Despite this, we decided to give it a try.

Food: Given the limited menu, it’s hard to provide a fair review. I couldn’t help but wonder how others managed to post reviews and photos of dishes that were supposedly “unavailable.” The restaurant specializes in dumplings and noodles, but only a few items in those categories were offered. The noodle soup we ordered was served in small, cereal-sized bowls, which made it difficult to stir the noodles without spilling broth over the sides.

Staff: There appeared to be an older Asian man, likely the owner, and two waitresses who were dining in the same area as the customers. Interestingly, they were eating dishes that were supposedly unavailable to us. Additionally, the two waitresses repeatedly brought steamed baskets of dumplings to a couple seated nearby, even though dumplings weren’t on the menu for customers that day. This left us confused and...

Absolutely phenomenal experience at Mimi Garden Dumpling & Bao!

Every dish we tried was a flavor-packed delight. The crispy beef roll was a standout — perfectly crunchy on the outside, with cool, refreshing cucumber inside, balanced by a sweet chili dipping sauce that tied it all together. The braised beef and onion bao bun was pure comfort food: soft, pillowy, and filled with a rich, savory filling that was absolutely delightful. We were also blown away by the Shaomi dumplings, stuffed generously with pork, crab, and shrimp. Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked — a definite must-order! To top it all off, we ended with their brown sugar sticky rice cakes, served warm with a crispy exterior and chewy, gooey inside. The deep, rich flavor of the brown sugar syrup was the perfect sweet ending. On top of the amazing food, the staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and well-trained, making the whole dining experience seamless. The dishes came out surprisingly fast and everything was fresh and hot. The restaurant itself is aesthetically beautiful, with a modern, welcoming vibe that elevates the whole meal. Highly recommend to anyone who loves expertly crafted dumplings, bao, and more. Can’t wait...

This restaurant offers the cuisine-diversity the back of The Woodlands desperately needs. Full disclosure - Uli’s was great and its sudden closure was unfortunate, but Mimi Garden is a fantastic successor. Mimi offers an excellent selection of steamed buns. We enjoyed the pork buns, shrimp soup buns (long bao), fried chicken dumplings, popcorn chicken, chicken fried rice and crispy beef rolls. All delicious with a special shoutout to the pork buns and the beef rolls. These have a flavor similar to crispy duck rolls with the cucumber and green onion. Tasty. Busy restaurant so be prepared to wait, but turnover is efficient. No online reservation option, yet. No online ordering, yet (only in restaurant). No liquor license, yet. Not sure if you can BYOB. Service is excellent. Food comes out when it’s ready. The restaurant is like a high-end cafe. TVs playing random stuff. The table-side chili oil is outstanding. Rice bowls would be nice. Price is reasonable, which is refreshing for The Woodlands. Great place, highly recommend. P.S. cute takeout bags!
