What a gem we found today in Thomasville. We were out bourbon hunting and asked where to eat.
A local person said Sweet grass. Most restaurants were closing at 2pm, but they were open past 2pm and it was 1:45pm.
Our waitress, Crystal, was very friendly and recommended the brussel sprout and spinach dip and suggested extra crostini, good choice! It was rich and loaded with Sweet grass cheese!
She highly recommended the pimento burger with bacon bourbon jam. We split that. We split that with fries. She brought 2 plates and 4 dipping sauces for the fries. They had 6, and we picked spicy ketchup, garlic aoli, some sweet bourbon ketchup, and blue cheese dip. My favs were the aoli and blue. The spicy ketchup has a good kick.
We also tried a 1/2 charcuterie board with their cheese and amazing sweet dips / honey sauces and nuts. Truly wonderful cheeses. I think their house pickles stole the show there. Sweet and tangy butter pickles!
I paired my lunch with Blake's peach cider! It was dry and paired so well with everything. My wife ordered Coke and was pleasantly surprised to get a glass bottle of REAL Coke from Mexico. We took a lil moo slice of cheesecake home.
10 out of 10!!! From great friendly service to awesome food! We will make the trip from Tallahassee monthly to eat here again if possible. Crystal was fantastic and made our lunch comfortable by answering all of our questions with thorough knowledge and Georgia charm. Thank you Crystal. Pics were taken, don't miss...
Read moreA friend of a friend recommended this place for some drinks. At Sweet Grass Dairy Shop located in Thomasville, Ga off of South Broad Street, I was skeptical at first till we sat at the bar. The atmospheric decor and magnificent setting is very welcoming, from liquor bottles shelved on the wall to a place full of cheese and charcuterie. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sammy and a Long Island Ice Tea. The bartender prepared our drinks. "Liquid courage" I can taste the rum, tequila, vodka, lime etc. I took delight in that drink. As we sipped our drink and waited for our food to come out, the bartender kept us entertained. What an EXCELLENT bartender. When my food arrived it was a big piece of fried crispy chicken breast with chiffonade lettuce, tomato, and house ranch on brioche. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The season on the chicken was flavorful. The service here was A+ A+ A+ A+ A+. I mean EVERYTHING was just spectacular and stimulating at this location. Food and service is worth every penny. You will get your money's worth at this place. From the moment I walked into this place to the time I left this entity. The bartender (Ian) service is off the chart naturally (above and beyond). Staff is friendly, pleasant and clean and a very heart warming welcoming establishment . NEVER seen nothing like it. I love it when food is always prepared fresh. Food here is scrumptious. I will be back for more of...
Read moreMy wife and I went there for a dinner on saturday night. We double checked their closing time and went there just before 9:00 pm knowing that we still had over an hour. Service was quick. Food was very good. Cheese curds were delicious. My wife ordered Steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. I ordered burger medium. It was a bit over cooked but overall very good burger. On the other hand, I have worked in the hospitality business over 20 years in different countries, different restaurants and bars as Manager. I have never seen any restaurant start cleaning and closing the restaurant while guests are still in the middle of their dinner. Closing time was 10:00pm but they started cleaning the restaurant at 9:20 with chemicals and at some point all we could smell was a cleaner. All the employees started to act like we were not there. Talking to each other loudly carrying chairs etc. They brought the check without even asking, while we still had our drinks and it was only around 9:40pm. With the high quality of the food I would expect better service and atmosphere. Unfortunately I have had simular experiences with lackluster service in Thomasville...
