Honey's Chicken — Restaurant in Thornton Township

The food is absolutely good. BUT you can't ever get it. They close at 10 pm but I get there at 9:01 and they were sweeping talking about they are done taking any kind of orders including phone. She says the only thing they have are a COUPLE of 4 and 6 piece wing orders if we want to order. So I said no I wanted fish. I step outside RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DOOR WHERE I CAN SEE And only one man go in. In 30 seconds I say well I'll go back for that. I come in and she's taking his new order. He only orders something that need to be cooked because she gave him the 20 min wait. But she pretended he was a call in before 9pm. So as I come back in... She's done with him and I say we will go ahead and buy those 4 and 6 prices pieces.... This liar says.... Oh we sold them already. HOW? you don't take call ins after 9pm and this man just got a fresh order? I was literally sitting in the window making up my mind less than 1 min ago and the chicken gone? Just say you don't want to serve me in particular. Don't lie. So this place lost integrity and character for me. Just say from 9-10 you're only taking orders from people you know. Or change your close time....

My daughter and I really like this place....it reminds me of Harold's but with a twist. My second time coming here, at the Calumet City location, the clerk was stocking the lemonade and NEVER said anything. Then another girl came out the back and stated that someone would be with me in a min and guess who it was....the clerk stocking the lemonade who never said 1 word to me. Now let's get into tonight, I called because I know it takes a while and I wanted my food to be almost ready when I got there but the girl answered and put me on hold and never came back to the phone. Then when I tried to call back the line was busy so when I got to the location, I stood at the counter for approximately 7 mins before anyone even came out but you could hear them laughing and joking in the back.. Then when the girl came and took my order I asked her was their phone off the hook because I had been trying to call back and see stated that the battery died so it was on the charger..EXCUSE ME!! I try to support black business but clearly they don't want to...

I saw a Honey's Chicken near me and since I was craving chicken wings, I wanted to try it. I ordered through Doordash for delivery. I thought my local restaurant would have supplied the food, but it assigned the order to this location, farther away. Already the delivery time was about an hour.

I ordered the 6 wings w/cole slaw, small fries & banana pudding.

The wings were sloppy, soggy, and not very tasty at all. A lot of breading with little meat on the bones. They were covered in a sauce and I don't remember selecting a sauce.

The fries were NOT crispy, mostly soggy and disappointing.

The only savior was the banana pudding, which tasted pretty good.

I can't comment on the restaurant or the cole slaw...since that was missing from my order. The trouble with delivery services like DoorDash, the experience is seldom consistent. In fact, they didn't really care that my cole slaw was missing from the order. Neither...
