Very disappointed. I used to drive up from south of Welby because the prices were fair. I always bought two 6 oz steaks (medium well) and egg meals to go. It was hit or miss on the steaks. When Megan made them, they were juicy and tender. She always put some of the extra juice in the box too. When the guy worked the grill, he put a weight on the meat (I was told) and for some reason they turned out tough every time. I should have checked them before leaving the restaurant but I didn't. I did notice how dry they were when I got home when he made them. I called the restaurant on 2 different occasions to ask what I needed to do to ensure a good steak. I talked to a couple of different waitresses and they both said that Megan doesn't put a weight on the steaks she grills. I even left a message on the phone one time when the steak was so bad and nobody called me back. This last time I went, it was a busy Saturday and the place was packed. The way the restaurant is designed at the entry way, there is hardly any room to sit. I got my order of steaks and was looking forward to feeding my elderly, frail mom a good meal when I got back home. I always cut it up for her and when it is juicy, it is so much easier to cut and for her to chew. I was downright mad at how dry and tough the steak was. I called twice and asked for Lisa to call me back. I was not asking for a free meal, only what I could do to get a decent 6 oz. steak. She never returned my call so now I have to look elsewhere for an inexpensive, juicy steak. I have the opinion that Lisa's Place has so many repeat clients that they don't need any new ones. Too bad they don't care about...
Read moreThe entrance is crowded and uncomfortable if there are others waiting. It’s kind of tucked away in a shopping center and parking is a nightmare if you go on a busy day. All in all the waitresses are really nice and are very attentive. If your unlucky enough to get a 2 seater chair be prepared to play Tetris with your drinks and plates. The food came out really fast and my order was all there and it was like moms breakfast. If you can get past the crowd it’s a great little eatery with that “like home” feeling. I will be coming back again. Perhaps on a day other than Sunday rush ! Way to go Lisa’s place it’s nice to know there are still places that have that small hometown feel to it ! On a side note the people that attend vary in background, so you definitely get some culture when you come here. If you want to get away from the IHOP , Denny’s, and village inn environment then This little hole in the wall is where you wanna go! Other businesses need to take notes, Small mom and pop businesses can appeal to younger people. Good food , good service and reasonable...
Read moreGreat find. The kitchen here knows exactly what's it's doing. Everything cooked exactly right (not over or underdone). My over easy eggs were the very the definition of what I expect when I order eggs that way and even looked picture perfect. Their corned beef hash is canned (which I require because every house made version always seems to have onions) but some folks might not like that bit. No onions in the hash browns either (another plus for me) which are pretty good but ask for them a bit more well done if you like them crispier.
Service is excellent. Polite but not artificially so. My iced tea stayed filled throughout. No complaints. I will be tipping generously.
My only minor complaint is the green Chili could use a bit more flavor. They do offer mild medium (half & half) and hot and the hot is sufficiently hot for most folks I'd say based on the half & half I ordered.
This is one of many great little breakfast places you can find in the metro suburbs, and better than most. Stop here if you're ever in the area, I dont think...
