The Good:
The staff were kind, attentive, and respectful.
The booth was clean and well maintained.
The wait time was very short. The food and drinks came so fast that it's like it was waiting for us.
The presentation was exactly as I imagined it.
The Bad:
My strawberry limeade smelled a bit off, didn't mix with the water, and actually made me sick.
The coffee wasn't good, but yet wasn't toxic either.
The orange juice was a bit warm, but otherwise okay.
The chicken sandwich meal was incredibly bland. I had a friend chicken sandwich with bacon, "two kinds of cheese", and pickles on a brioche bun. Sounds perfect right? Yet it tasted like microwave tater tots. The cheese couldn't be more clearly the "shredded Mexican style cheese" you find at Walmart, the bottom bun was soggy, and the bacon had NO FLAVOR. Bacon, with no flavor. The only way I know how to pull off to this degree is to make it AT LEAST 24hrs in advance, then warm it in an oven. Given how soggy it was, they didn't even bother flipping it over. The fries were fresh, but had no salt.
The french toast was average. Nothing wrong with the toast itself, but the butter must have been frozen for weeks beforehand. It was hollow tasting, and crumbled rather than spread. I brought the french toast home in hopes of revitalizing it with better butter, but there was no save it.
So why three stars?
We were the only people in there under 40. At the age the regular patrons are, they can't always taste the difference anymore. The food LOOKED great, and when you can't taste salt anymore like my grandmother, that's enough. If you're retired and want a classy little joint to hang out in like the good old days, this is it. If you can get out of bed in under a second without hurting yourself, go...
Read moreWhile service can be good, I've never had a good experience going here alone. slow service when I'm alone, but if you have 3-4+ people, it's always been good. This last time was it for me - waiting for 10 minutes, had another couple come in after me and put their name in. Waitress actually came up to the greeter (she was one that the couple had ASKED to have server them, guess that make me less important) and told him "I'll take the 2 top and you take the single" then proceeded to call them up (less than 2 minutes wait for them and I'm still sitting). They were seated and their waitress has already gotten tot hem to take their drinks and I'm still waiting. Never again Village Inn - this is the 2nd time you've done the EXACT same thing to me by taking someone else ahead of me while I'm in line waiting (and single). Guess "single" diners are no-where near as important as "2" are - guess the best way to get a seat to to only go in if I have more than 1 person in my party or if I'm smart enough to ask for a special server by name, then I can cut the line just...
Read moreStopped in for breakfast on a Saturday, it was pretty busy. The hostess did great. When we were seated our server (didn’t catch her name but she was Hispanic with an accent and about mid age) came up didn’t even let us look at the menu and asked for our drink order. I felt very rushed! I ordered a mocha iced coffee and I’m almost 100% positive I was given a chocolate milk with ice. We had a young child with us and we were not offered a child’s menu or booster seat, when we requested one when the server came to take our order she appeared annoyed and said so you need more time, it’s not common sense a person needs a few minutes to actually look at a menu they asked for? The silverware was dirty. Based on another customers complaints, it wasn’t just our table with dirty silverware. Once our food arrived we were given a bill, we were not asked if we needed anything else and there was a very brief moment where we were actually asked if our food was okay. Mine came out cold. Overall, I do not recommend this location unless you’re looking for bad service and...
