Michaels — Local services in Thornton

An employee Jacob, profiled me from the moment I walked in the store. If you don't look like a suburban housewife than you will be followed around throughout every single aisle the entire time! I wasn't even allowed to purchase anything because I was lied to and kicked out of this location for no reason!!!

Here's what happened: Michaels store - 16531 N Washington St. Thornton, CO 80023 Employee Name: Jacob Date: Saturday, May 31, 2025 around 8pm.

My friend and I, were shopping last minute for our friend's birthday presents. From the moment we walked in the store, the employee Jacob was following us around like crazy. In the beginning, He came up to us and told us that the Dicks store next to them had gotten robbed so the police are next door and that they will be locking the doors to Michaels just so we know, but we can still get out after we check out. I didn't think much of it and kept shopping. This employee continued to pass me back and forth when I was in every aisle. My friend had her service animal with her and went outside to wait for me until I was ready to check out. Then Jacob came up to me and said that the police wanted to talk with my friend and I, because they saw something on the camera and some items have went missing. So I started walking towards the front of the store because I knew I had not stolen anything or had my friend. Then Jacob, tells me that the police were outside with my friend and I had to go outside to talk to them. He then proceeds to grab my shopping cart away from me. I was angry at this point because I knew he wasn't being honest and just wanted to take my cart. When I walked out of the store, he slammed the sliding door shut and locks it, laughing with another employee. Both employees stand at the door and kept it locked so we could not re enter the store. There were no police outside and the Dicks never got robbed either. It was really weird of this employee to say all this to me and my friend. We weren't trying to steal anything, we didn't look like we stealing anything but we were profiled from the moment we walked into the store. I was unable to purchase anything for my friend's bday which was that same day, so that was ruined for me. I was so embarrassed because other customers in the store saw this and so I was made to look like a thief. This was such a degrading experience for me and I never want to shop at Michaels ever again. I know theft is a big thing but how I was treated for no reason was so...

Bought 2 frames with the buy one get one half off sale. Cheaper frame was broken so I went in to do an even exchange. Instead the girl did a return, after I specified that I simply wanted to swap out for a non broken frame, and then tried to charge me the normal price for the non broken frame. When I refused to pay more for the frame than what I was reimbursed she politely asked the older gentleman working there for help and he was absolutely rude and told another girl to help. That girl reduced the price but I was still being charged more than what I was refunded for the broken frame. She stated that was the lowest she could get the price. I walked out without a frame and will never buy from this...

I usually love going to Michael's I spend a lot of money at this store! But after my experience last Saturday I am so disgusted I don't want to step into another Michael's store again! My friend and I were treated very rude the entire time we were shopping and were harassed asif we were going to rob the place and at the end of the experience we were both lied to and our cart was taken and we were kicked out for absolutely no reason. It was very upsetting I was shopping for my friends birthday and was excited about some of the things I was planning on getting for her this experience ruined that for me Jacob the employee working that evening was rude and very unprofessional he has no business treating us...
