My husband and I were looking for a place to eat breakfast after dropping our daughter off at the airport. After doing a quick search on Google, and reading some of the reviews, Five07 really stood out. The avocado toast appeared to be a “must-have” from what I read in the posts, and saw in the Menu Highlights. We walked in and the vibe was incredible. (The 3 stars are for the ambiance.) I felt as if I was walking into an artsy cafe in San Francisco. We both ordered the avocado toast with poached egg. As far as coffee goes, my husband and I prefer dark roast, but the darkest they sold was medium roast, so we both ordered medium roast. The order came in a good amount of time… coffee first, followed by avocado toast and poached eggs. It could be because I’m more of a dark roast kinda gal, but to me the coffee tasted too watered down. However, the biggest disappointment to us, was the avocado toast. In retrospect I should have taken a photo, but was too overwhelmed by what I saw. The mashed avocado was spread so thinly on the toast, I felt as if they were rationing because they were on their last half of avocado. It was nothing like the photos. In fact, our mashed avocado was as thinly spread as the toast with the white spread that is next to the avocado toast in the Menu Highlight, but certainly not like the heaping avocado toast in that same photo. On a positive note, however, the poached egg was cooked perfectly. Needless to say, we will not be...
Read moreLattes and teas are good (if you like very strongly brewed tea: I got the White tea today and it was too strong for my liking but that is just an opinion, I'm sure others would have enjoyed it). I got a lavender mocha the previous time and again, personally, I did not enjoy it, but it was well made and I could see someone else looking the flavors. My roommate has gotten 2 lattes she very much enjoyed, something to do with coconut milk and vanilla and chocolate... We all got food today: paninis and the avocado toast; each were okay but I don't think I'd order again. I have tried a cupcake and the banana bread, both vegan /gluten free, and I can say with confidence that I will never purchase a pastry there ever again. The banana bread managed to taste like pepto bismol somehow??? Had a wintergreeny essence... yeah. But, I will say the atmosphere is really nice, so is the staff, comfy seating options, and I think it's great they have live music on Saturdays (have not checked that out yet) and movie nights on Friday's; they were playing Black Panther when I went in, and everyone was being pretty respectful of the sound level so people could enjoy and they had even turned the cafe lights off - although that did make it a tad difficult to see what to order if you don't already know. All in all, go for the peaceful vibe and the coffee and tea, think the crepes look like a good option too, but I would recommend not having the other...
Read moreExtremely disappointing experience — not just due to poor service, but also how the business responded afterward.
Our order was incomplete — several food items were missing, and by the time we received the croissant, the coffee had already gone cold. It took over 30 minutes to get a ham and cheese croissant, and we had to follow up twice — first with the cashier, then with the manager — just to receive what we had paid for.
Meanwhile, guests who arrived well after us were served quickly, which made the experience feel discriminatory, especially as non-white Americans. The treatment was noticeably different, and the staff’s dismissive attitude only made things worse.
When we raised concerns about the cold coffee, the initial solution offered was to add steamed milk to reheat it — something I’ve never encountered at any coffee shop across the 25 countries I’ve visited. Only after further pushing was the drink eventually remade.
But what truly shocked me was the disrespectful and disgraceful reply I received from the business after posting my review. Instead of taking accountability or apologizing with humility, they deflected blame, minimized the issue, and even implied I was out of line for sharing my experience. That kind of response only confirmed how little they value customer feedback — or dignity.
This wasn’t just about a croissant or a coffee. It was about being treated with respect — and that clearly didn’t...
