Living in San Francisco has left me spoiled when it comes to food and restaurants. Whenever I travel I am usually not happy about my food choices and can't wait to get back to the bay area. I wasn't especially hopeful when I walked by Fusion Grill that is nestled in a little strip row of stores next to a shady motel area. The menu however caught my eye and I thought I would give it a try. There was only one other couple in the place when I arrived. Once inside though Fusion Grill started to stand out. This was the nicest staff I think I have had to deal with in my time eating out in California. The cook greeted us and handed us menus complete with personal recommendations and offer to try anything we liked. We were only one of four people in the place but he treated us like we were family. He was so nice and helpful I thought he was the owner of the establishment the whole time but he really was a chef.
He talked us through the menu and the idea behind the restaurant and gave us pointers on where to start. I ended up with the ceasar wrap and the spicy fries. The ceaser wrap wasn't just chicken and ceasar. It had it own blend of fusion added with a special dipping sauce and and delicious wrap. The fries were excellent and the Parmesan truffle fries are a must try whenever you go to this place.
The only thing I was sad about with this place is that it wasn't crowded with people. You can do to go orders and if you order enough they will get to know you and greet you by name. If this place was in San Francisco there would be line out the door every night and you would have to make reservations four or five days in advance to get in. Where it is located you can just walk in and have some of the most eclectic and satisfying food you are going to find in southern California.
I cannot wait to make this a monthly stop when i move to southern California in a few days. It is work the drive over to thousand oaks and the staff and food make it stand with the finest restaurants California has to offer. Do yourself a favor and check out this spot while...
Read moreThe Asian-style appearance embraced by this restaurant gives a sushi bar impression but, what it houses within is much more incredible. It lives up to its name and offers a quality fusion-style mix of contemporary Italian, French, and Asian cuisine. I would argue they even go beyond that.
There is a Jersey Mikes across the way but, I was so dissatisfied with their limited options and long line, I left in search of something new. I couldn’t be happier with discovering this fusion grill. I was tight on time and focused on getting something I could eat on-the-go. With a recommendation from the host, I chose the Ahi Tuna Sandwich. It included Sesame crusted Ahi Tuna on a brioche bun, pickled red onion, pickled ginger, lettuce, and wasabi aioli. For less than the price of a Jersey Mike’s sub, I was able to enjoy something ten times better.
Having such a good experience on the first go-around, I decided to make another visit before a DMV appointment. This time I was seated, and the waitress was attentive, fun, and friendly. I chose the Fusion Rancheros from the breakfast menu. It included three eggs, refried black beans, corn tortillas, avocado, chopped onion, cilantro, queso fresco, sour cream, and homemade green salsa. There was also complimentary fresh fruit alongside the meal. The service was prompt, and the food was again, fantastic. I have saved this restaurant as a favorite in my Google Maps, and I am definitely...
Read moreAdded 11mo later: Still love this place, but they close at 8pm!! Tonight arrived here at 830pm and the register person looked at her watch theatrically... "ooooh, you are eating IN?!". If you are not open until 9pm then CHANGE YOUR SIGN. As I'm writing this at 9:15pm staff is mopping around our ankles and loudly moving furniture. Rushed dinner. Common problem here. PLEASE CHANGE YOUR SIGN, we eat late dinner and desperately look for places in TO that are not just for lunch.
Further addition: staff arguing with us about whether we were rushed or not
I love this place. My wife and I have been coming here 2-3x/mo since they opened about 1.5yrs ago. We come here both for quick dates and also with our little kids for family dinner. The food is AMAZING— from a simple steak sandwich or a great burger to a Cilantro Pesto Pasta with Chicken (which I’m eating at time of writing) which puts many pesto pastas that I’ve had in Italy (yes, at decent places) to shame. The Coconut Salmon is always perfect. Husband (Jorge, chef) and wife (Boroka), owner present most of the time making sure things running smoothly. They do not have full bar (but have wine/beer/few drinks and nice juices), House Cab at $5 is great. I hate to let the secret out, but have been here so many times that it was time to...
