KFC — Restaurant in Thousand Oaks

To be fair, the food was typically good but I personally will never go back to this KFC until they fire the crew that was working last night (10/10/2019 just before 7pm) or change ownership/management.

The front counter was a mess with receipts and straw wrappers strewn all over, cups and cup lids on the floor, tables that were dirty and garbage overflowing their container. I was able to ascertain all this because I had to stand there for almost 5 minutes listening to a young girl yell at her (presumably) shift leader for a break. When she came to the counter to take my order she proceeded to tell me that she was going to have a meltdown and throw a temper tantrum (I asked her to wait until after I left). She continued to complain that she'd been there since 2pm (it was 6:48pm) without a break (I recommended she wait until 6:59pm and take a lawful lunch break thinking she'd get my order out by then)

In the 11 minutes I expected to wait, 2 orders went out followed by another order that was hand delivered by the young girl to her friend that had just walked in the door. They knew what they were doing because both young girls turned around and looked directly at me as I stood there in disbelief, shaking my head. After the young girl and her friend finished looking at me, they went back to laughing and screaming and carrying on. This, surprisingly, didn't bother me as much as watching my order being given away but then her friend left (with my food) and the young girl proceeded to empty the garbage cans. She apparently still had an attitude about not getting a formal break as she proceeded to throw the garbage cans around, making as much noise as possible.

In the mean time, another kid in uniform, casually strolls to the kitchen drinking an energy drink (probably should have super-sized it) to help the shift leader who was working with somewhat of a purpose. He helped with something (I honestly don't know what) and then went back out to the table and sat down leaving the shift leader to work by himself in the kitchen.

As I said, the food was decent. The service and cleanliness was horrid. No, I wouldn't recommend going here. The next nearest KFC is in either Simi Valley or Camarillo. I'll be going to one of those...

July 2024— It sounds weird but the air always feels greasy inside here. The location never feels clean inside. It's like they're just wiping tables down with water and no sort of grease cutting spray to actually get things clean. The doors always look gross, especially the bathroom.

I don't think this location does very well financially, unfortunately it shows. The service was always good before they installed kiosk ordering. That's just another surface that doesn't feel wiped down. If you use your phone for mobile ordering to eat inside, they don't even call your name. They just toss it up on the pickup shelf–that laziness annoys me.

I'll try the place again in a few months. I'd like for them to wipe things down better after they fry all of the chicken so everything in the lobby doesn't feel greasy. I'd like for wipes to be available for customers to wipe down the kiosk screens before using it. I eat here maybe once every 4mo when I get a craving, and I'm usually disappointed with the food being dry, so they could at least improve the service so you feel like you're supporting a local business and that you're an...

When we arrived there were several people in front of us. We had a large order so we expected to wait. As we were waiting for our food we noticed that a single woman who had been there when we walked in was still waiting for her order. She politely asked about it at least twice - all she had was one Famous Bowl (#17) and was told rudely by the man at the counter that they had other orders. By the time our order came up (remember she was waiting BEFORE we ordered our large meal) she still had not received her food. I asked how long for her bowl and was told rudely by the man at the counter that they had other orders as he shoved my bag of food at me. I asked whether they were making it (to be fair I was mad at this point and YELLED into the kitchen) and was told they had other orders. Customer service the worst I have ever experienced - when we left she still hadn’t received her food and it seems they didn’t even have it in their system to make.
