Got to do the tasting with the owner! Learned a lot about how he does his fermentation. They have a lot of single varietal wines. Everything we had was outstanding. The white was clean, light, and refreshing. His rosé was very balanced with a very light tinge of red. I was lucky that the ones he poured are some of my personal favorites: Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah. His wines really let the natural grape characteristics shine through. Everyone talks about Forgiveness and it is a well balanced dessert wine (that doesn't go overboard into syrupy sweetness) that lingers for a bit, like a sweet memory. His Spring Peach and Winter Raspberry, also dessert wines, really shine with strong clean fruit flavor. The peach you can taste that it's a white peach in there. The raspberry doesn't go into the cough syrup side but stays true to a late season full of flavor berry. For me the pinnacle of the tasting was the 99 Surrender Chocolate and Strawberry Syrah Port. For anyone who does chocolate or fruit with their port - no need with this!! There is a hint of the cacao flavor (not that chocolate milk or bitter chocolate overpowering) the strawberry is the perfect ripe fruit that blends and complements the full body of the Syrah grape and there's no heavy alcohol feeling or flavor with it. This is the perfect ending to a wonderful meal or just relaxing during a...
Read moreGiessinger wine is really the best ever ! Wine tasting with Eduard is beyond a regular WT experience. We met Eduard at Taste of Conejo Chamber event and amazed with his natural french wine. I went to his winery to buy it for my birthday. Winery was full of people. Eduard gave attention to everyone talked about harvesting techniques etc. Then by appointment I came back with co-workers. Eduard impressed all of us. He is actually a doctor/ professor and musician, very knowledgeable and passionate about his wines. He said that he puts his name on each bottle and he cares about each bottle. He told us about every wine we have tasted there. Every wine has a story. Taste is amazing and unique! No sugar added! Normally wine gives me an allergy (even$300bottle wine lol) like i get itchy ears, stuffy nose, sleepy, headche. But this amazing wine did not get me non of those! No allergy from Giessinger wine! My fav is the Raspberry! Jolie, Forgiveness, Orange, Peti sirah, apple cider wines are amazing too! Experience amazing there! I look forward to bring my...
Read moreWhile visiting CA we wanted to do a wine tasting. Googled wineries near me and Geissinger Wine Cellars popped up so, we decided to try it. Four young ladies were there for a birthday celebration. They were instantly engaging and allowed us to be part of their celebration. The birthday gal is a wine club member. She raved about the port and about the owner, Edward.
Edward was so knowledgeable and passionate about his wines. The wines were quite unique and Edward was quite entertaining as we progressed through the tasting. The port was light and not syrupy. A squeeze of lemon gave the sherry a completely different and wonderful taste. I don’t like hard cider but their carbonated hard cider was outstanding. Forgiveness was really good too and has a story behind the name.
After our tasting we asked for a nearby restaurant recommendation and were given a few options. We ended up going to Tuscany where we had a fantastic Italian dinner.
We had the best time! I would give Edward 10...
