If I could give this place a zero I would. I brought my 95 year old aunt here to celebrate her birthday. She was excited about getting out of her assisted living facility and I wanted so much to show her a good time. We ordered quesadillas and they were ok. The problem came when I secretly asked the waiter to bring her out a piece of cake or something for her birthday. I explained to him that she was 95. Little did I know that they could care less about her age. They brought an ice cream out covered in cool whip and smacked it in my 95 year old aunt's face. She was totally in shock and it went all over her, down her blouse and all over her linen jacket (down the sleeves and lapel). She tried to take it lightly, but was very embarrassed and worried about her jacket. Then I asked for a cloth to clean her up and they brought two napkins, which will not clean a linen jacket with cool whip all over it. I had to asked for a wet towel and this still did not work. I have seen Mexican Rest. do this before but they should always asked and have more sense than to do this to a 95 year old lady. It could have made her have a heart attack or some other medical condition. Afterwards I complained to the manager and he said he was sorry and that never should have happened. He said he would take a percentage off the bill. I told him I wanted my aunts meal completely free. She had cheese dip, tea and a quesadilla. Actually the entire meal should have been free since they ruined my aunts birthday. When I got to the car I noticed all he did was take the quesadilla off. I think they should have to pay for her dry cleaning bill and given her a free meal. These practice should never happen without asking the person first and you should never hit an elderly person in the face with anything!!!! I will never eat here again and I will tell all my friends and family about this experience . I do believe that I will take the dry cleaning bill by there and see what they say. Very disappointed in this restaurant !!!!! Thanks for ruining my 95 year old aunts...
Read moreBest Mexican restaurant I've gone to since moving to the N Ga area. Specifically, better than anything in Helen, Cleveland, and Clarkesville. Tried the pollo fundido. The meat was so good, and the shell is crispy. Could have had more cheese (there's never enough cheese). But unlike at other places, even though there wasn't enough cheese, you didn't need it! And somehow they had it oozing out of somewhere when you cut it with the fork... Even though you really just want to shove your face in the plate and open your mouth wide like a whale... So that was fun. Oozing cheese with perfectly cooked chicken and crispy whatever is around it. The chicken wasn't the least bit dry. It was yum from start to finish. I substituted my rice for beans. Although originally I asked the waitress if I could have a side of beans and SHE suggested the substitution. Unfortunately for her I would have gone with both. Which takes us to why this was a 4 and not a 5. The service was lacking. I really wanted a bowl of queso because who doesn't love cheese seriously why is that even a question, and I could never get anyone's attention so I gave up. Especially after the oozy goodness. My motivation to spend more money decreased with every oozy bite. I also was thirsty and mostly drinking water/coke. So that was unfortunate. There was also this awkward impatient exchange when our food came to the table. I am neurodivergent so hah that was fun! Did not help with my social anxiety (and also my desire to spend more money). But like it's crazy out there, I'm not mad at them. And I'd go back today. I would just ask for everything I wanted upfront and maybe bring my own soda. Would still 100%...
Read moreThis was the only Mexican restaurant in Toccoa when I first frequented it in 1996 with my high school Spanish class. I haven't been back since, but I decided to check it out.
The menu needs to be revamped and narrowed down to a few dishes in each category that's done well. I could taste the aluminum from the can of the salsa and black beans that I ordered with my dish. The chicken was overcooked in the kitchen. Therefore, it continued to cook and harden on the skillet brought to the table. Additionally, the chicken wasn't cut, making it difficult to cut with a knife. Once the sizzling chicken arrived, so did the two biggest flies I've ever seen. I had to constantly fan between preparing my dish and bites.
I realize that I'm not in Mexico or S. California, but when the entire staff is Hispanic, I expect close to authentic Mexican food. Not much effort is put into the dishes, and it shows. It's...
