Fishermen — Restaurant in Toledo

Never judge a book by its cover. Pleasantly surprised to find some delicious fresh perch, catfish & shrimp at this nondescript restaurant. Stopped at Fisherman on a 30 min. dinner break. Traveling to Toledo for work, was unfamiliar with the area & planned to just stop at Subway (Co-workers preference) but ran across the street once we arrived. Small place, two employees working, a few people sitting waiting & 3 of us ordered combo plates while the other 3 got subs. All I can say is fantastic fish, shrimp, corn fritters!! Yes, it is fried, crispy, hot, light, not greasy, not too heavily breaded with a more cornmeal than flour mixture, freshly made while you wait goodness. Just to get our carry out it took about 20min., didn't mind that knowing it was hot & fresh! Combo dinner came with fries & coleslaw, fries were hot & crispy, the frozen almost batter coated kind, not my fav but since nice & hot & crispy I had a few. Coleslaw was very creamy type, also came with 2 pics. white bread so I made a little sandwich with the catfish, slaw & hot sauce they added to my bag! Consistently the best fried seafood at low prices in Toledo! The fish and shrimp always taste fresh, Light oh, and crispy. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. They also serve fried chicken wing dings in large quantities at great prices! Which is a super answer when serving large number of people appetizers. It is a little difficult to get to the restaurant because Dorr Street has a cement barrier in the middle of the road. However it is definitely worth the inconvenience I'm going around to get in the right lane to get to that restaurant!! The restaurant is a very casual fast-food type atmosphere and it has a large TV screen. They wrap their to-go orders so efficiently that I prefer to take mine at home. But this restaurant is absolutely positively 100% worth making an effort of trying if you have not! My favorite food is there jumbo shrimp and they are huge! I think 14 of them with coleslaw and french fries is $20. One of those meals can feed two people a man and a woman appropriate portion sizes. I-85 in my man eats 9 shrimp. Like I said these shrimp are jumbo! And I also always request a little extra lemon pepper salt...

Ew! Not so hot. The building isn't in too good of shape especially on the outside. Literally it's freezing cold in the building! I could see my breath! 😤😱I have to wonder if it's legal to run an establishment with no heat. I will never be ordering from here again! The service wasn't so bad in person but they have terrible phone etiquette. They got my order wrong even though I placed it in person. 🙄 Now let's talk food.🥵 Talk about fishy smelling fish. Very low quality When fish is slimy it's an indicator that it's starting to go bad. My okra wasn't cooked well and that's a hard thing to do. LOL 😂🤦🏿‍♀️ so, you drop it in the grease you wait the appropriate amount of time you pull it out. So I guess it was the appropriate amount of time part that confused someone. Also, I overheard two phone conversations and the man working the front counter was quite rude to people placing orders.
