Mancy's I've been going to this restaurant for 20 years now. I have always been pleased with their food and service. Mancy's is a high end restaurant and their prices reflect this. They specialize in top end Choice and Prime aged steaks. On this occasion my wife and I went their to celebrate our anniversary. We started off by ordering a bottle of Argentinean Malbec. The wine was very enjoyable to me. It doesn't finish bitting dry like a cabernet. The restaurant must have a few thousand bottles of wine. For our appetisers we has Escargot and the Hot and spicy jumbo shrimp. The Escargot was good but the Hot and spicy jumbo shrimp were amazing. The shrimp are served with a very tasty sauce with mushrooms, red peppers slices, and scallions. To tell you just how good the shrimp were, I would drive the 45 mins from my house just to have this dish. Next was a bowl of lobster bisque. I thought the taste was fair at best. The salads that came with the meal were just a basic salad. For a vegetable we ordered the asparagus with Holindaise sauce. While good it was nothing special. Now for our main courses. The 28 day aged NY strip steak rubbed with fresh garlic. They also offer numerous steak toppings that you can choose from. For example cracked pepper, mushrooms, Bearnaise sauce, horseradish cream, etc. My wife had the Osso Buco served on a bed of polenta. The NY strip steak was tender and had a deep beefy flavor. The Osso Bucco( veal shanks ) came simmered in tomatoes, onion, garlic, wine, stock and spices. While this dish was good, it needs to be served just after it is done cooking. I would stick to the steaks. Their menu also has seafood offerings. I keep saying next time but I can't resist the steaks. We completed dinner with creme Brule. A perfect dessert choice to end an incredible dinner. If you do not live near Mancy's take the drive. You will...
Read moreWe just had our anniversary dinner at Mancy's Steakhouse, and it was an ok experience. Our server was great and a good navigator, but the dining experience was certainly NOT impeccable. I booked our reservation party if 2 online, which asked if this would be a special occasion. I selected anniversary; this was not acknowledged and the server asked if this was a special occasion. I answered saying this was our anniversary, but this was the end of it. There was nothing done from the part of the restaurant to make this a "more special " experience. So I don't see the point of them asking if this is a special occasion, what's the point if you are not going to do a thing to make it magical for us. Our appetizer came at the same time as the entree, which evidenced their hurty in getting is out of there. It is worthy to mention the NY strip steaks were AMAZING, and cooked to perfection. The kitchen did mess up my husband's side dish, but this issue was quickly resolved by our server. My last point is worth of mentioning...While I was attempting to return to our dining room table as I walking from the ladies room, I waited for a child and mom to came out of that section, as any person with a minimal level of politeness would do. After they got out, one of the restaurant managers stood by the door as to scanning through the dining room, he was blocking the door. He never acknowledged the fact that a female customer was waiting to get into that section, never excused himself, and I pretty much waited for him to look around as he stood by the door and once he was done I was able to get into the dining room and back to my table. I thought that was so rude! I worked for 6 years at a 5 star fine dining restaurant, so maybe this is the reason why I am so critical. Overall not impeccable, hurried service, and uncoordination of dining experience....
Read moreUPDATE- I went there last night for my birthday dinner as I do every year for the last 5 years. I'm not sure if they have different cooks throughout the week or if they changed their meat vendor but it was not good. I got the bone in filet mignon and it was fatty and raw and had lots of stringy tube things in it which I absolutely hate and the whole reason I usually choose Mancy's for my birthday dinner because it is never like that. But..... Last night was bad! The onion rings were even under cooked and soggy and not crunchy like they used to be. The table was wobbly and fixed by my husband by placing one of their plates under 1 of the legs. Our dinner came out to be over $300 with the tip and the service was great but at a restaurant like that we shouldn't have to send the meat back multiple times so I didn't because it's already disappointing when you can't eat your meal with the party you came in with. Also the turtle pie was off as well. The crust was not the same as it used to be and it just fell off in crumbles and had no real texture or consistency. Anyway I will be finding a new place to dine for my birthday every year from now on. Thanks for the disappointment Mancy's!!! The only reason I gave this place a 2 star is because the service is still pretty good there.
ORIGINAL POST: I really love this place as far as their meats and selections of meats. i would have given 5 stars but the sides are horrible. i have ordered a lot of different choices and the green beens are always undercooked for me and the potatoes are dry...
