2018 Review: 5/5 stars across the board.

Amazing place to eat TexMex and some damn good food. Lots of variety and a taco for everyone. The queso is like crack cocaine, you're addicted before you realize it. The bar service is amazing, great beers on tap, local varieties, and hella good frozen margaritas. Eric is the best bartender here.

Hello Torchy familia! I am leaving this review with a lot of concern for this location and the poor standards of what our family experienced not only tonight, but as time has gone by. It has gradually been getting worse every visit. The funny thing is it used to be the best location when challenged against the Holzworth spot. Backdrop (history): We have been a part of Torchy’s since the beginning, and I mean the very beginning back in Austin. We have friends & family at all levels of this company. We have also been to almost every grand opening (including this location). Current visit: Man this place is filthy! It wasn’t busy and we showed up around 8:30. All of the booth tables were in poor condition and whatever was on them was dried in meaning they haven’t been cleaned in hours. I literally grabbed a towel and cleaned it myself. *the pictures provided suck and don’t show how dirty everything was, sorry. Floors & guest areas are all dirty (drink area) Machine was out of ice and the other drink options were empty or very close to it. Paper towel dispensers were all stacked up and not on the tables like normal (?) Food: We received the queso fairly quick, like most visits but the queso we ordered was definitely not hot and just barely warm. Tacos took a long time to come out, but you’d figure them to be fresh & hot on arrival. Nope, they were also sitting in the slightly warm category which tells me they either took forever to run them or figure out whatever other excuse they may have. I also hard a burned piece of beef in my taco which was definitely unpleasant. Staff: In most cases, Torchy staff are trained to be upbeat & pleasant when engaged with guests. Everyone we spoke to or saw visually looked somber and clearly not happy to be working. Cash-out: The card system is auto set to 18% or 20% tip which is pretty ridiculous considering nobody waits on you unless you are at the bar. This may be a company policy, and to be clear on this… I’m not cheap and firmly believe in tipping for great service received.

I hope this information makes it to someone that cares. I don’t want anything and I run operations over many facilities myself working with the public. As leaders sometimes you don’t know what’s broke unless someone alerts you.

I’ve been there several times, the food is good but the 2 stars goes one for taste and one for nice ambient. Not expensive food in general but for being tacos they’re pricey and at least I would expect fast and good service and well trained staff.

Bad service experience: I know that not all the staff is the same way but definitely some need more training and have to realize that their job is to provide good service as a “server”, I get there place my order and get a table so far so good, 30 to 40 minutes later I get my 3 tacos, not sure what happened since usually takes half or less that time to get your order served there, on top of that the waitress asks me if everything was fine when she brings my food and I said all great but could you bring me limes for my tacos? She says “I’ll be right back” She keeps passing back and forward to other tables but no limes and when I stopped her she tells me to go and get them from the bar myself, still nicely I play along go to the bar and asked for limes and the bar tender says they don’t have limes on the bar so a bit more irritated I go straight to the kitchen and asked for the limes where they get them right away... it took me another 15 or so minutes just to get to prep the tacos the way I like so of course I ended up eating cold saggy fast food within almost an hour of placing the order. Such a bad experience as a whole for that visit.

Bad hygiene experience: I go there with my daughter, this time food and service was great (asked for limes and not even 2 minutes the waiter brought more than enough) once we’re done eating my daughter tells me she has to go to the restroom and when we got in someone was using the toilet so we had to wait a bit, when the guy comes out it was an employee, he got out of the toilet and straight out of the restroom without washing his hands, when I take my daughter inside to the toilet they guy left a mess (pee everywhere). I talked to the manager and she told me that she would get it addressed.

Overall, lack of training for the staff on the basics, it would be nice if they’re short on staff to at least give the heads up as far as food taking longer than usual to be ready but the food is very tasty and very nice...
