I change my mind. Back to 1 star. Website, menu, and stafg doesn't inform you about charging you for a group of 6.
The food is extraordinary and the place was clean.
If my review doesn't bother you and you really want good Japanese authentic food, then this is the place. May-8-2025 My number one complaint is the BILL SCAM.
May-23-2025:Update: I had to think about this for a while, because I need to give a proper honest review.
What to know: Deceptive restaurant. Bill scam. New people won't know about the policy of large groups being charged %20. Large groups are 6 people or more.
Food: Amazing Japanese food
What's deceptive: No statement anywhere about what is considering a large group and what the tip percentage charge will be. A group of 6 is considered a large group here.
If you read all this: Check out the picture I've added.
I usually leave a 4 star for good service, but this was not the case here. This place was deceptive.
The star went to 4 when I learned that the restaurant never states up front about what they consider is a large group and what percentage type of tips they will charge. In this case, they chose 20%. I'm also upset the only waiter got $10 in cash as a tip, but I don't know much about her. I thin she earned the tip, but this place needs to be better. I'm not sure if our waiter added that digital tip. If I was working there, I would have not taken the tip IF I had the knowledge of the deceptiveness.
Then it went to 3 stars, because of how this place handled drinks. I detest water glasses being brought to the back because of a bad experience I had one time. At some other place I was brought back up a chewed up straw.
Then the star went to 2, because our group was only 6 and we had only ONE waiter. I've added a picture. I've added a picture of the reply the owner sent as proof should they reedit their statement.
Then the star went to 1, because one of us spent over 70 dollars in food and then they had the audacity to tip us the highest percentage of...
Read moreThis is exactly what you would expect from going to any normal Chinese or Japanese restaurant in area. I was kind of surprised they didn’t have Boba tea but they did have two of my other favorites. Bao and ramen. If you’re a little confused on what these two things are and how to eat them here’s a few tips .
Is bao a dumpling or a bun?
Bao is a type of steamed bun that originated in China. While it may resemble a dumpling, it is classified as a bun due to its doughy texture and fluffy consistency. Unlike dumplings, bao is not boiled or fried but steamed, giving it a unique texture and flavor. To eat you let it cool off first that’s important, dip bun and sauce if available or soup. Use chopsticks or hands. Take a small bite to let the steam come out so it doesn’t burn your mouth. Then enjoy. It is OK to share your buns with other members of your party . In fact it’s quite fun for everyone to order something different and then share with each other so you can try one of everything. Have you ever seen the movie Ramen girl with Brittany Murphy? Watch it before going to this place. You’ll have a whole new respect for the food and how it is to be prepared. This place does follow tradition as far as preparing their noodles and they are served nice and hot like they should be. I was hoping for some undon options but it is only ramen noodles here. However it is served traditionally with the egg and everything else that it’s supposed to so that made me extremely happy and I really love the food and I can’t wait to come back. I did find the atmosphere a little bit lackluster compared to the exquisiteness...
Read moreBeing a family that is both Vietnamese and Japanese, Iza Robata was a natural choice to give a try.
*Love the decor of this place. *My kids and I each had a ramen bowl. The noodles used are really good. Firm and chewy. I had the beef ramen. The soup was flavorful but a bit salty. The brisket was plentiful in portion. I am not a fan of brisket as it tends to get dry and only find brisket in Pho to be the most ideal. Of the many other places that have used brisket in Ramen, Iza's was way above average. It was slightly dry but not bad. My son ordered their spicy Miso. The flavor of his soup was a tad bland for our tastes - I gave it a try to see for myself. Overall, he did like it but he would have preferred mine. My daughter ordered the Tonkatsu. Although my daughter said she liked it, I could tell she didn't really enjoy it as much as she didn't finish her bowl. When she really likes something, she will eat it all and often ask for more. Having a taste of it myself, it was a bit too salty. We also ordered for my wife, whom wasn't present at the time, a to-go order of their beef fried rice. She complained hers was really tasty but also way too salty. I agreed after having a few spoonfuls. We fixed it by mixing more white rice we had left over from the previous day to help balance it out.
Overall, I am willing to give Iza Robata another try. I am hoping the overzealous use of salt was just a bad day. There was great potential in all of our dishes that I hope to see better in...
