There’s a reason that there’s no negative stars on these reviews, because there wouldn’t be enough today. I gave this place a second chance today. Last time I was there they served my then-pregnant wife flautas with half-raw ground beef in them. Today I went there because it was a rare occasion for me that I actually got a sit-down lunch. I waited for at least five minutes while there were empty tables everywhere, then I was seated. I was given my only cup of salsa that day (which tasted like tomatoes and bath water), and was never given a refill when finished with it, nor did I receive a refill on my unsweetened tea (which also tasted like bath water). The service was extremely disinterested in me and was border line racist due to the fact that myself and the other Caucasian customers at the table in front of me recurved about half the amount of visits that the Hispanic customers at the two tables across from us did. The staff literally walked by me about 3-4 times, looked me right in the eye and kept walking. I was served bar none the worst tamales i have ever eaten in my life, and paid a whopping $12.80 for them. I know these were cooked fresh, however, because they weren’t good enough to be canned tamales. Also, nice job on the anti American painting hung right at the entrance, depicting America as the source of all of Mexico’s problems. Rather than pissing off your customers in the country you live in, please blame the corrupt government of the country you left first.I won’t ever be back. I will go hungry before I do. The taco truck across the road has this place 100% beat. If any restaurant management is reading this, don’t you dare call me trying to talk me into coming back. IF I answer, you won’t enjoy what I...
Read moreWe have given this restaurant chance after chance after chance and always end up disappointed in several areas. We've called in to-go orders several times(fajitas)-and each time we've gotten home only to discover the portions are half the size as when you dine in. I guess they feel they can get away with it since we won't notice until we get home. Also, on one occasion, I had asked for an extra bag of chips since I had ordered a large cheese dip, along with the salsa it also came with. I had only 1 bag of chips in my to go order and since they are endless when dining in (and we normally go through a few basketfuls between the 5 of us), I didn't think this would be an issue. After asking for an extra bag of chips, he told me it would an extra charge. I questioned the "why" behind that, since they are endless while dining in. He gave a look of displeasure and came back with a much smaller bag of chips. This was the owner, which gave me great insight as to how he runs his business. The final straw was this past Saturday night. It was around 7pm and we decided to go there out of convenience to where we live since it was so late. We walked in and placed an order to go (fajitas again). We got home to find the meat Old and too TOUGH to eat. We literally just threw it away without eating it and called in an order from Jose's(which was delicious...why hadn't we thought of that sooner)! We also love Las Margarita's further down on Sunset, as well as Las Fajitas in Lowell (which is hands down our favorite Mexican restaurant in this area). We decided after that, that we would NEVER eat there again, no matter how desperate. There are way better Mexican restaurants that provide better service, better food and better customer...
Read moreI have been wanting to try Las Palmas for a while now, I kept seeing them around Northwest Arkansas but hadn't been to one yet. It was ok, they definitely don't serve all of the expected items that you see on the other Mexican chains around here (Matador, La Huerta, La Hacienda) which was somewhat refreshing. They had several different expected dishes but they definitely added their own flavor to offer different dishes!
I had a pretty good dish of grilled tilapia, side of Mexican rice and an avacado salad (with an entire avacado on top! Mmm). The tilapia had a really good red sauce on top. I was pleasantly surprised bc I don't usually get red sauce on my food. It was around $15, the portions were pretty big. I couldn't finish all of my food so that was good.
The chips and salsa were ok, nothing to really write home about. The chips didn't seem fresh, felt like they purchased them instead of making them homemade as other places like this do. I did like that they gave 2 small containers of salsa - one was mild and the other spicy. The spicy definitely had much better flavor to it and it wasn't too spicy.
I would go back to try something new, I've heard that their drinks are pretty good too but I didn't get a chance to try any of...
