Denny's — Restaurant in Topeka

What was the strangest is my Daughter had brought home the SAME ORDER I PLACED about 3 day previously. She was there in the morning, I went at night. Her food WAS DELICIOUS!! Mine was mediocre at best.... I went to get a cup of coffee from the counter, (attractive Man sitting there) and I guessed him to be Russian, when he said no, I said Geramanic then and he said yes, he was. Then the cook, (George) interrupted by mocking me, saying the exact same things I stated to the other Man. When I tried to tell George I'd watched a BBC program and it gave me some knowledge of what features and bone characteristics to decide..he stated I thought he was not smart enough and then he became hostile telling me he was, "in college" and insinuating I was snobbish. FIRST PLACE: I WAS NOT SPEAKING TO HIM. SECOND PLACE:HE INTERJECTED THAT I WAS SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT HIM!! THIRD PLACE: HE SHOULD STAY IN THE KITCHEN, AND LEARN TO COOK!! My Daughter's SAME OMELET from the DAY COOK was EXCELLENT TASTING, George's omelet was a SEVERE DISAPPOINTMENT in comparison. I'm truly sorry I don't care WHAT GEORGE THINKS, UNLESS i WAS TALKING TO HIM, and he is a big jerk! PLEASE! Find a Cook that is as good on night's as well as days, and the Cook's should know, OPINION, WHEN NO ONE INCLUDES HIM ABOUT IT, and it is between 2 PATRON'S not 2 Employee's. I am putting this knowledge to you all, no only because of George and his behavior, but also his cooking! I'll say thanks for reading this, usually it isn't, bur I've become excessively tired of . Went for breakfast with my husband and sister in law and brother we all ordered something different I ordered country fired steak came with toast hash browns and 2 eggs wanted my eggs yoke but the whites completely cooked and extra gravy on the side when we got our food my eggs were way under cooked whites where still clear sent it back and they brought it back and they just through them back om and the bottoms where burnt and the top whites were still under cooked and clear and the yoke was soe what over cooked decided to just not eat the eggs because they where still under cooked country fired steak was amazing the hash browns where completely undercooked quarter of it was burnt and the reset were still cold and or frozen then tried the gravy and it was like someone spit in it there was something clear and mucus in it I walked out and was sick to my stomach and couple minutes after walking out puked my sister in law paid and we left no one could finish there food at that point the server Michelle was touching my husband's straw to move it from empty glass to replacement glass with her bare hands grabs the star where his mouth goes that's no ok and gross all around was a horrible experience where had to pay for and wouldn't even eat 99 % of the food because it was undercooked and still had to pay for everything will not...

We went in the middle of the night. Now I didnt have high expectations due to the late hour.

Our waitress was awesome! I loved her energy and her attention to detail. Drinks stayed full, checked on us but didnt check too much. Even remembered the dessert I wanted to order after the meal when I forgot. Stellar.

Atmosphere was mostly quiet. It picked up a little but then It quieted down again. Lighting was perfect In our booth. It was cool so a nice difference from outside.

The food fell short. I had chicken strip meal and my husband had chicken fried chicken. Everything else was okay but the fried chicken parts were overcooked and lightly burned. Seemed that the fryer may have been set a bit high or they just accidently got left in too long.

These things happen and we know this place is great most nights as we used to come here in our youth around thst hour after work every week. And every crew has always been amazing. Just wasnt a great night for fried chicken. I will still be returning in the future. One rough night does not erase years of great food...
