After a full night of driving around I found myself in the area of this particular Denny's location just after midnight realizing that I had not eaten dinner. So I decided to pull into the parking lot and thought about the last time I was at this location which was a few decades ago when I used to work down the street at the Del Amo Mall.
Naturally I thought about my poor experiences here so many years ago... unfriendly servers, long waits, and food that was only palatable after six beers and a few shots of whiskey.
To my pleasant surprise, tonight's experience at this Denny's was extremely far from my distant memories. I was quickly greeted and seated by Ale, a friendly staff member who ended up being my server for the evening.
Ale had already picked out a both for me when I asked for an electrical outlet. She knew exactly what I needed and quickly moved me to a seat with an electrical outlet and she did let me feel like a burden at all. She even went through the trouble of plugging in my power cord whilst simultaneously taking my drink order. Before I could settle in she was already placing my beverages in front of me.
Tonight I was in the mood for fish, but there were only two fish options on the menu, a salmon dish and the "Tilapia Ranchero". I did not want salmon at all and was reluctant to order the "Tilapia Ranchero" because the few times that I have ever had tilapia the fish was always dry, smelled extremely strong, and was prepared in sauces and seasoning so rich and overpowering that all you could taste was the sauces and seasoning.
The "Tilapia Ranchero" was nothing like that. To my pleasant surprise the fish itself did not smell extremely fishy and was moist. As a test I took one bite from the corner of the fish and it was a bit salty but once I sprinkled the lemon it came with and scooped up some of the pico de gallo that was drizzled on top... that second mouthful and every mouthful thereafter was perfect.
On recommendation from Ale I chose the salted zucchini/squash and the multigrain rice for my side dishes. Both sides complimented my tilapia very well.
Ale frequently checked in with me to see if I needed anything and took to time to engage in friendly conversation. Her hospitality and service are remarkable. She was very attentive, very patient, and extremely quick.
Thank you Ale! Your customer service was the best part of...
Read moreI'm usually very patient & understanding, so one star? Horrible experience. I really wanted Denny's breakfast, so I put in an order for pickup. Because it was so late, this Denny's was the closets one taking orders for pickup after midnight. I placed my order over the phone while in route, but left my wallet at home, so it took me about 30 minutes to get there. Since I was running behind my food should be ready when I arrive. When I walked in, I head to the pick up orders here sign and wait. There was one cook, busy making food, and one server, busy boxing up orders. So I patiently wait. There was about 3 or 4 small parties already seated, and being taken care of by one other server. She walks past me, heads to one of the tables, takes care of them, and then walks past me again, with no acknowledgment of me standing there. Then 2 people enter the restaurant. She comes back, greets them, seats them, me.... nothing. She closes out a check for a table, right in front of me. Again, me.... nothing. The other server and cook, still busy cooking and boxing up orders. Another couple enters, she greets & seats them, me... not even a hello. I was begining to think maybe I wasn't really standing there, until my sons came inside to see what was taking so long. Finally she acknowledged me and asks how many in my party. I tell her I'm here to pick up my order. She looks over her shoulder at the other server busily boxing to go orders and says, she'll be with you in a moment. I almost lost my mind. I was about to say something until she asked for the order name. My food had been sitting on the counter that she walked past about 4 times. I had to hold my tongue. I don't even really know how to explain or even begin to understand why I didn't get help, after standing there for almost 30 min. Why I didn't even get a hello, or someone will be with you in a sec, or anything. If that is their pick up system, I'll pass from now on. Don't think I would even want to go and dine in...

We had a fantastic early morning breakfast at Denny’s on Sepulveda Boulevard in Torrance, and it was a great way to start the day! The huge free parking lot made it easy to find a spot, and the restaurant was clean, welcoming, and comfortable.
Our waitress, Elizabeth, was outstanding—friendly, knowledgeable, and truly went above and beyond to make our experience great. She helped us navigate the menu and was incredibly attentive to my mom’s vegetarian preferences. She even made sure that the kitchen thoroughly cleaned the pans before making her Veggie Omelette, which was fresh, perfectly cooked, and packed with delicious, crisp veggies. The hash browns were golden and crispy, just the way we like them!
We also took advantage of the $2, $4, $6, $8 Value Menu, and the $6 All-You-Can-Eat Pancakes was an amazing deal. You really can’t beat hot, fluffy pancakes for such a great price.
This Denny’s is open 24 hours, making it the perfect spot for an early morning breakfast. With excellent service, great food, unbeatable deals, and a comfortable atmosphere, we highly recommend this location! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A big thank you to “Elizabeth”for making our breakfast experience...
