I really wanted to love this place after hearing so much about it, but I thought on my visit, it was just okay. Some standouts, some just okay. I would come back to give this place another chance.
Parking is easy in Old Torrance area. This place gives that small seating environment with nice vibes. It’s more of a place for snacks and drinks than a complete meal. I’d love to come back to watch a game or a late night place to eat/drink.
Didn’t realize until I got there that their menus are different for lunch and dinner. Will have to come back for their other menu.
I’d recommend making reservations. When we came it was relatively empty but most tables were marked reserved (including ours).
Now let’s get on to the food.
Appetizers we got the tofu with kimchi and garlic. It’s a common appetizer and they did it well. If anything, it could use more of the fried/crunchy garlic
I love the fried brussel sprouts. Somehow with how it’s prepared and served, they batter stays one consistently. Perfectly cooked. Wish the seasoning was done better since you get some bits with lots of flavor and some bites with just brussel/batter.
Bone-in chicken is a must. A small show where they cut it in front of you when it arrives and if you get the garlic fried rice, they’ll pour the sauce from the chicken on it. It’s a nice touch. The chicken is juicy and flavorful.
Garlic fried rice is forgettable in my mind. Needs more garlic flavor. The egg on the hot place over fries the egg so when you mix it all, it’s not very consistent.
Also got the 3 combo chicken. This was kind of the disappoint for me. While juicy, I don’t think it’s as amazing as people say. Portion seems very small for $20. I think if anything, they should include 1 or 2 sauces for you to select from when buying the chicken. $1 for each sauce seems without letting you order at least 1 or two with your combo just seems like a money grab.
Overall the service is great, staff are friendly and welcoming.
I’ll give this place a try since I do enjoy the food and vibes but for now I’ll keep my...
Read moreI’ve only eaten here once, so I was hesitant to leave such an amazing review until the second time around but it absolutely deserves it. What an absolute gem to have in Torrance. The staff and atmosphere was amazing. The food… omg… best chicken I’ve ever had! I’ve travelled to 43 countries, been to Japan 3 times, and absolutely best, juiciest chicken I’ve had. We had the mixed fried AND bone in chicken and not sure which I recommend more haha definitely worth the price (tad expensive but so good)!! The grilled mackerel was amazing as well. They also have 3 different menus for lunch, dinner, and takeout so keep that in mind. Unfortunately didn’t take any pictures of the chicken since we ate...
Read moreI wanted to try this place for the first time but this will be the first and last time I will. The lady in the front took my "to go" order in. I even left a 18% tip for the fast service. I ordered a family set, and ALL of the chicken wings were RAW. Half of the chicken thighs were almost cooked. It seems like they fried it fast because the chicken weren't crispy. The only thing that was cooked were the chicken breast and the chicken cutlet. But the cutlet was SOOO DRY! We also ordered fries and they OVERCOOKED it as well. It was hard to chew. I called them, they gave me a phone number to send the pictures of the under cooked chicken, but I did not get a response whatsoever. VERY...
