We dined at Taste of India last night for the first time. When you walk in the door (use the side door) you are greeted by the amazing smell of good food! The staff and service were both very friendly. Its very peaceful inside, nice decor and a hint of Indian muic in the background—not over done, but a nice touch. The menu is big so I'm sure you will find something delicious. Big vegan section too for those so inclined. The portions were ample and the flavors were quite good. The prices were also very good! We shared the Eggplant Pecora appetizer 3 ways, under $5. It came with 2 dipping sauces, a green one that was a bit hot, but sneaky about it, and a savory red sauce. Both were good. The eggplant slices were not greasy and perfectly done. The entrees come family style, a big bowl of basmati rice and main course comes in individual bowls. Nice if you are into sharing. Dont forget the warm naan! My wife ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, mild. It was delicious. My daughter had the Chicken Curry, also mild. Very tasty. I went for the Lamb Tikka Masala. It was about $15. Big chunks of lamb, green bell peppers and tomatoes. I ordered it medium. Medium was hot! I'm not allergic to spice and it was good. The server was always there with cold water! Maybe a little too hot at first so be careful. I got used to it but maybe next time mild. I didnt have any leftovers. I am a retired chef with some experience in preparing Indian cuisine and this is right on the money!! Friendly service, good food, lots of it and reasonable prices. I noticed a steam table that was not in action on a Friday night but I'll bet they have a hot buffet at lunch time which is good for sampling. Check the website or call. Lots of free parking....
Read moreI ordered 3 things (a beef dish, Naan, and dessert) for pickup. When I returned home I realized only the beef dish was given to me. I immediately called them about the mistake. I was initially offered to go back and pick it up or store credit but I turned it down for a refund instead (I live 20 minutes away and was not sure the next time I would be back. I also paid with a card so a refund was easiest). I was told I would have to wait until after they closed for a refund for some reason and she would call me back that night and issue me one. Instead I got no call back. I called the next day about the refund but was told to call back an hour later because the guy who answered was unable to do it. Called back again and was once again not given my refund. I called the next day (so 2 days later) and spoke to someone about the refund. She was also unable to give me one (she mentioned the owner had to issue it) and took down my number for the owner to call me later that day. No call. It's been 4 days and I called 4 times. So yeah I'm leaving this negative review because I was charged for items I did...
Read moreThe only good thing about this restaurant is its ambience. The service was quite bleh, no the food isnt good at all! Nobody asked if the food is good or not, do we need anything else. We ordered a tomato soup and paneer tikka appetizer. I can say only the soup tasted good, actually a bit sour but thats fine, its tomato soup! Paneer Tikka had like 6 pieces of Paneer sautéed with literally 5-10% sautéed pieces of onions and green bell peppers! It had no taste, no spice, paneer wasn’t marinated, absolutely disgrace to the paneer tikka name! Later we ordered medium spicy Vegetable Curry, and literally in the name of curry they had 5-6 boiled vegetables in a curry, which again had no salt, no spice, i mean i could make it 10 times better after watching a good recipe video! And yet the main owner didnt care to ask if the food is okay or not!
We literally stepped out of the restaurant in 20 mins! I have had better food in Buffalo, this has to be the worst experience ever! And yet to be graceful for the meal i tipped...
