Disappointing Experience at Burlington
I visited Burlington on the evening of December 5th around 11 PM to return a broken item with the receipt, and the experience was beyond frustrating. The two cashiers made me very aware of My decision to never shop at this location again. Initially, I was told the item wasn’t from the store, even though I had the receipt to prove otherwise. After showing the receipt, they claimed I had already returned the item—while I was literally holding it in my hand.
When I pointed out the exact same jacket in the store with the same barcode, the staff just kept accusing me of dishonesty instead of resolving the issue. The two employees working that night were extremely rude and condescending, talking to me as if I were unintelligent. Their behavior was both unprofessional and offensive, making it clear they shouldn’t be working in customer service.
When I pointed out the same jacket on their rack with the same barcode, they changed their story again and claimed the jacket was “used and dirty,” which was absurd because I had just bought it. Instead of resolving the issue, they told me to “take it back to wherever I bought it from” and said it wasn’t their problem.
What made it worse was that one of the employees tried to take the jacket away from me. The two women working that night were rude, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. They spoke to me as if I were lying or stupid, and their behavior felt not only insulting but also blatantly racist.
This is by far the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. These employees clearly should not be working in customer service.
I have never experienced such blatant rudeness and racism. Customers deserve to be treated with respect and fairness, and this encounter was unacceptable. Burlington seriously needs to address the behavior of their staff. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreThis store was my family’s go-to store for clothing…not anymore. My step-son accidentally left his beats headphones on the counter when we cashed out and someone stole them. We realized an hour later that they were left behind (a learning lesson for him, but he’s just a kid). I called and the person who answered immediately told me that nothing had been turned in… she didn’t even take a chance to look. The child’s father immediately headed to Burlington and the cashier that helped us said that they are over there on the counter. She said she had noticed them, but didn’t get the chance to lock them up (this was an hour later). She also said that she asked a few customers if they were theirs…not sure why not just lock them behind them counter. My boyfriend filed a police report in hopes to find the person that took them and get them back (no charges, we just wanted them returned). I called the store every day for a week, and got hung up on a couple times. The manager was supposed to call me back after AP reviewed the film while waiting for the detectives to ask to view the film. Today, almost a month later the police detective showed up at my house to let us know that he did not have good news. While they may have been able to do more, Burlington was very uncooperative. They would not let him view any more in the film to try to get a picture of the person who stole it. I guess the footage at the register wasn’t good enough. They refused to let him see any extra footage. I even called corporate and they didn’t seem to care. This whole company is terrible and clearly doesn’t care about...
Read moreI had an incredibly disappointing experience at this Burlington location on the evening of December 5th at 11pm. I went to return a jacket with a broken zipper—unworn and with the receipt—and was met with shocking rudeness and accusations from two cashiers. They falsely claimed the jacket wasn’t from Burlington, accused me of returning a used item, and even alleged the jacket had already been returned! These baseless accusations were not only insulting but completely untrue.
When I returned the item to the original store, the staff there processed the return without issue, proving that this location’s treatment of me was completely unjustified. The behavior of these two cashiers was not only unprofessional but also discriminatory, and I felt targeted and humiliated. This kind of treatment is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the Burlington brand.
I urge management to address this incident and provide proper training to ensure no one else is subjected to such degrading treatment. Customer service should be about respect and professionalism, neither of which was present during my visit. I will not be returning to this location and will share my experience with others...
