I really wanted to like this place. I was hyped to go.. but I have to be honest. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had dining out. The wait for the food alone was too much. My wife and I were promptly greeted and seated. Cool. The problems began right after.. first we waited over an hour before we got our food. We ordered some wings for an appetizer; which were actually great despite the long wait. I ended up ordering the Stuffed Oreo French toast with eggs and bacon for the main.. key word “Stuffed” after close to an hour, one of the servers comes to us and says, “we don’t have the filling for the French toast, but we’ll put some garnish for you. It’s pretty much the same.” I said, ok sure since I already waited over an hour and I didn’t want to waste more time by picking something else. So after about another 20 minutes, she came out with 4 pieces of dry toast with a sprinkle of Oreo crumbles on top; no chocolate sauce/glaze or even syrup.. The eggs were overly salty and my wife ordered the Fried shrimp and grits; which were also super salty. We must’ve guzzled a liter of water between us while trying to eat the food. We stopped trying about halfway because of the salt.
The other issue was the atmosphere/music.. the place is somewhat small; which is perfectly fine, but they had a DJ present who was blasting the music sooo loud, which in a small environment, we couldn’t even hear each other talking. There was a large group of people celebrating a birthday, and they were egging the DJ on to play louder and louder; but I think it was inconsiderate to the other folks dining. You could tell the other diners were annoyed. A couple from the table behind us got up and left when the music got too loud and the staff did nothing to rectify the issue. The same birthday group then decided to get up and start dancing around this already small restaurant.. literally on top of the diners while we’re all trying to eat.. on a good note; the DJ was playing some good Soca music; but just way too loud and not considerate of the other people dining. Like I said, I really wanted to like this place.. I wanted to support my fellow Caribbean folks, but I have to be honest, it was a poor...
Read moreIn one of the rare instances in which I give a 5 is because everything seemed to have fallen in place for a dining experience. Went early Sunday afternoon for brunch. The menu changes for dinner because I did not notice the wings which I heard are amazing. I guess I will have to return for dinner as I spoke to Hasim ( hopefully spelled his name correctly).
My friend who invited me here and I walked in and were immediately seated. The place was already capacity but we found a table near the big windows. We were greeted with big smiles prior to being seated. They have interesting choices for brunch including delicious drinks which are at full strength. My friend ordered the rastarita which comes with a generous amount of tequila. I ordered the Sangria which for me was done with the right ingredients, not the pure wine which it is not supposed to be. Both drinks were served in Mason jars and were full to the top. Although the waiters and waitresses were busy, they still managed to make you feel at home and make fun remarks while you wait to decide. We both wanted grits based meals since we were hungry and I especially wanted to try the grits to taste the fuss. Mine came with Salmon and my friend had hers with the jerk shrimps. Although I did not taste the shrimps, but the salmon was done right without being dry. It was moist and flavorful. The serving dishes were unique to each dish as you will see in the pictures. I forgot we ordered the avocado toast to begin. It was generous proportion and more than enough for 2 people.
We were very happy to see young entrepreneurs open this clean and well lit place. I heard it has been open for a little over 4 months. I truly wish them the best. With their good food and warm personality, they will succeed. The only concern I have is when they get popular, it maybe difficult to get a table in the future!! Definitely a place to go for a delicious meal and...
Read moreOk let me start off by saying I came to this place with high expectations and this review is not to bash or to bring down especially from one of my own but our brunch today was just not good. You can’t charge premium prices and give customers plastic utensils and small plastic kids cups for drinks see with the pictures. I ordered the fish and grits they were clumpy and the fish was hard. We sat down and it took about 25 min for our waiter to get to us he was extremely nice but that’s unacceptable. The bartender Ciara brought our food 25 min later and realized he never brought our drinks so about an hour no drinks and the scary part is there were only three customers at the time including our table. After eating our waiter asked us what we thought and we told him it was our first time and our last SS asked how can we make this experience better and I began to explain when making grits especially milk based it busy be stirred often or it will get clumpy because of the consistency of the milk and when frying anything you must dust off the excess flower or it will over cook because what’s cooking is all that flour and not the fish so you have to leave it in longed he really tried accommodating us even giving us a meal on the house to go the coconut salmon but sorry to say wasn’t enjoyable you could tell it was frozen and not fresh and it was drowned in sauce food she be seasoned well and be good on its own and not depend on a sauce. But in my conclusion I really wanted to like this place and believe it can really be outstanding with the right tweaks but if the owner reads this no one should receive there drinks when the order comes out or be given baby cups to drink out of the restaurant was not packed at all I hope everyone’s experience is better then mine going forward !!!! o and fresh fish should break apart easy when cut it shouldn’t be stiff that only happens when frozen fish is thawed then cooked see...
