after today's joke and trying to make my wife's first mother's day some what enjoying she wanted seafood for dinner. we knew there was going to be a long wait so we tried ordering early in the after noon for a late pick up. we tried the 2 different red lobsters cause our first choice of our local seafood restaurant was to busy. so we called the 2 different stores and got to totally different experiences one had stop taking orders do to high volume cause of mothers day and COVID-19 . we weren't made that we were going to have to wait to get the food or even that we had to go into the store to pick it up when other places where doing the curbside pick up. The second red lobster that we finally where able to make a phone order for pick up made it through placed our order was told it was going to take 25-30 mins to be ready so we waited a little long to leave cause of the mother's day rush I'm sure they got and did. we made it to the store in a respectful time where the food if ready would have only sat for a few minutes to walk into the store where all the customers where sitting and waitting at the bad like there was no pandemic going on and it was happy hour. after sitting for about 1-1/2 hours decided to say forget it my health is not worth a someone decent seafood meal. there was no practice of social distancing or proper mask waring. "the essential workers" that are trying to do the right thing by staying open and help during these time of needs did nothing to help the public in this case. Red lobster in Copiague New York 11747 on sunrise hwy deffenitly went with greed over safety on today's mothers day orders. this place took on way more then they could have handled people where there for over 4 hors waiting for there orders to come out. the workers that were there stayed in the kitchen till orders were done then carried them out to the bar softly spoke the last name of the order and if no one claimed it left it on the bar or on the back counter. while the orders were on the bar people where looking at the bags and touching them when they should have. the store did nothing to help protect against the spread of this virus. if anything they are helping the cause of the high numbered case of this virus. not to mention it apparently the police came at one point and had everyone leave the building and after they pulled out of the parking lot everyone went back into the building and the Manger and staff aloud it and did nothing. this will be the last time my wife and I go to this red lobster for a very long time with or without Covid-19 around. this was a pourly executed practice of...
Read moreI'm not a big fan of Red Lobster because it has changed over the years from what it used to be like back when I was younger. I've been to all of them on Long Island and all the same except for Copiague. My wife is not a seafood lover like me but she was given a gift card from her friends. We had no kids for the weekend spending time with their father, so she said let's go to Red Lobster. Words that sound funny coming out of my wife.
Our intentions were just to sit at the bar and have apps, drinks, and dessert. Kai was the bartender's name at Red Lobster. I usually don't remember names. A bad trait about myself. But he was very professional and attentive especially servicing the restaurant and us. We started with drinks which were very generous and then the coconut shrimp and mozzarella sticks. Of course, I had the shrimp and my wife eat most of the sticks. We also ordered the hamburger.
You know the saying, "You don't order meat at a seafood place as well as ordering fish at a steak house." That was the way it was when I grew up. Maybe old-school thinking. We ordered the hamburger to share, it was delicious. I know because my wife was taken man bites and I was happy seeing her eat this way. Kai kept checking on us and then we noticed he also had tables to attend to. Sad that so many restaurants have no help. But it didn't matter for him. He made our night.
So of course he asked, "Is there anything else can get you." My wife said, "Yes, the ice cream with the brownie," our weakness. Again delicious. Then the manager came behind the bar and I told her that I was not a big fan of Red Lobster until now. But only the Copiague location sorry to say. She was very pleased and wished I could tell corporate. I wish I could because I would tell them exactly how I felt. That's the one thing about corporate restaurants at times they get lost in what the public likes. They put on drinks that are good then take them away. Then they have dishes that are out of this world then they take them away.
They are in the background not listening at times to the front line. Managers, the wait staff, and bartenders. But that's corporate which this review is not about. But anyway try this location, if my wife who doesn't like seafood is willing to go. She will order the burger or the Fettucine alfredo with chicken and guess what I can have shrimp or lobster or crab, Thank You Kai for a...
Read moreLiterally the worst dining experience I've had, so far.
I had ordered a medium-rare 7 oz. Sirloin Steak (ordering a steak at Red Lobster, hilarious isn't it?) with the seasoned broccoli on the side. Of course, being a restaurant that specializes in seafood, I wasn't expecting too much. After an hour and a half wait with a barely-half-full dining room, the steak that they brought out was, NOT ONLY a filet mignon, but burnt on one side, and medium rare on the other. The mashed potatoes were alright, but the broccoli wasn't even seasoned. How hard could it possibly be to put salt and pepper on it?
After another 20 minutes, they brought out a new steak, which was the sirloin steak. However it was extremely rare, borderline raw. The broccoli was oversteamed and more mashed than the mashed potatoes. And guess what? STILL not seasoned.
I'd decided at this point, "I'm better off taking it home and actually cooking it to medium-rare because these guys clearly can't do it themselves", so I asked the waitress for a box. It took 10 minutes to get the box.
After I packed my food, I'd decided to quickly use the bathroom before leaving. There wasn't even paper towels in either of the paper towel dispensers.
My expectations were so low, and they still managed to disappoint me. I didn't expect them to make my order well, but at the very least, I expected them to do it correctly, which they still didn't manage to do in the end. The best thing they managed to serve me, (and for that matter, the only thing they served me correctly) was water with a...
