Deer Hills Delicatessen — Restaurant in Town of Babylon

So myself and my wife are visiting friends in deer Park So I went over to deer hills deli to get a hero for my wife and a beer Very nice Spanish lady served me I am the unlikely polish guy who speaks Spanish ... nice lady and I laughed about the things I was saying in Spanish I saw they had pot roast I decided to get that for myself I went up to pay I gave her a $2 tip which is uncommon in delis. At that time she asked how much the beer in the root beer were and the guy behind the counter intervened and said the beer is 2.50 and the root beer is 3.50 so I said jokingly how is that possible that alcohol is cheaper than soda. So then older small employee said well that's the price. I owned seven places before so I know what I'm talking about. So I said maybe you should have been better and you would have only owned one place... Clearly surprised at the no sense of humor And he saw the beer which was for my wife and said 'maybe you should stop drinking"

I thought he was kidding I said what did you say he repeated it Mind you I'm 61 220 fit He is 5'7 140 maybe 50s So after he repeated it the second time to succckk my

I'm walking out ..he is raging- yelling tears out from behind the counter and runs out after me outside onto the sidewalk Talk about suspension of disbelief. He is screaming raging how I should fight him now and How he is going to kick my ass turning so red in the face spitting as he talks the real definition an uncontrolled anger I've been a bodyguard for 31 years and could have quickly dispatched him. His stance and his rage alone were signs of someone who has done this foolish thing before. In my experience it's the Napoleon's in the world That always get aggressive. My deer Park friends tell me the lady who owns the place is very nice and this is not This employees first digression. I work for a big corporation . Anyone here ever acted in such a manner towards a guest The minute they left their station in the deli; shouldn't bother coming back inside. Came home and told my wife and she laughed knowing the outcome I would have preferred. She said what she always says Too many cameras these days honey.. The food was a little pricey but good I could never ever imagine being confronted on the sidewalk after buying lunch and being told I need to stop drinking.. I guess I need to stop drinking my wife's beer. Since there were only two choices of beer ..probably some question about a license to sell alcohol So take what you may from this fact that the owner isnt bothered by the fact her employee has such a trigger of anger that they would violently run out from behind the counter to change the customer out to the sidewalk into the street trying to attack them says it all Think about sending your teenage son of daughter inside and having that happen to them no control no remorse The fact that the employee wasn't fired or arrested is only from. My patience Mom/Dad's what would you do Why take a chance And now having regulars to post good reviews right afterword is shameful I love small businesses but the fact is you show very poor judgement allowing And watching your employee to run out from behind the counter in a crazy rage to chase a customer into the parking lot and threaten them With no accountability Would anyone trust that it wouldn't happen to their kids or grandkids? Wake up He didn't get arrested And you didn't get sued.... The owners knew or should have known the afore mentioned employee has a propensity for violence and or uncontrolled anger... It's not too late for that.. You really think that behavior is ever appropriate or can...

Not from the area, just visiting family but I can’t in good conscious recommend this place. We ordered our food from THEIR website. We get there and say we’re there for pickup, and there’s a clueless look after we’re asked if we “texted them”. I kindly explain nope, we ordered directly from their website to which they replied: “oh, that doesn’t work, it doesn’t go anywhere.”

Why even offer that as an option in your own website. We waited for them to complete our order which was quite a cluster you know what. In addition to somehow being charged $5 more than what their online price was, there wasn’t even like a “hey sorry, here’s a bag of chips or something.” Got home to see the healthy option I got and it was a piece of ham, an egg, maybe a slice or two of tomato and a quarter of an avocado? It seemed like they had their own local following but for those looking for somewhere to go, go elsewhere….you wouldn’t be missing out...

I really like it here, food is good and fresh. Service is also very good and the older gentlemen all dress so professionally with their pressed shirts and ties, nice to see a that type of charm in an establishment. My only recommendation is that in my observation they're wearing gloves to prepare food and handling cash, maybe dedicate one person to charge customers, I also got handed a spoon which was grabbed (with the gloves after handling my cash) by the bowl and not the stem. I'm not deducting stars because I would like to think it was an isolated incident and they're really nice. I hope someone reads this review and makes the...
