Horrible service/atmosphere

I had a terrible experience during my first visit. When I walked in, no one acknowledged me. I approached the counter where a girl was standing, but she still didn't acknowledge me. I stood there for 3 seconds in silence. Since I didn't know how things worked, I politely said, "Hi, how are you?" but I was literally ignored. I then asked, "Do I order with you?" Finally, she gave me some direction and told me to go to the end of the assembly line to order my food.

When I started ordering, the guy serving the food didn't greet me; he just stared at me, expecting me to order. The manager(also didn’t acknowledge me) was standing right next to me, just staring at the guy serving food. It was extremely awkward. At the end of my transaction, I asked the girl, "Is that the manager? Does he tell you not to say hi to people?" She had no answer. I then stated “it’s like I have to feel guilty ordering food.” Absolutely ridiculous first impression. Don’t know how they’re in business. The meat was slimy and undercooked. I have been visiting pita bowl for months and usually am very satisfied, however I got take out on 8/9/22 and I feel as if none of the evening crew has their food safety certificate. I ordered the steak and since it’s made to order, I waited as always- the man made it and put it in one of the metal tins after - the young man making my pita then scooped the steak and put on the pita however some of the steak fell off the spoon into the gyro and veggie sections. He then used his gloved hand to pick the steak up and place on my sandwich however not once thinking that perhaps he should use a utensil or that now the veggies had meat on them and following guests may not be okay with those veggies….. then down the line I watched another staff prepare a to go order (customer not yet in store), he placed feta on the salad bowl and then another staff corrected him that no feta added, he scooped the feta off with a gloved hand, wiped his hand on his pants in between and kept picking each piece of feta off the salad, he then realized he couldn’t get every feta piece off and then piled cucumbers on top to cover the feta remnants and...

Alrite guys, honest review. I really have high hopes for this place because its brand new and its nice to have some variety and options for take out and restaurants in town so I think a little constructive criticism and a short list will hopefully help pita bowl and attract and or keep more customers.

1.) Half of the rice we got with one of our bowls was hard as a rock, so much so that the person eating a few feet away from me says they could actually hear the cracking of the rice between my teeth as I was eating it. And they werent kidding, I myself was also worried about chipping a tooth.

2.) The chicken was relatively tasteless

3.) The portions, while not overly small, were definitely a tad over priced.

While none of the above critiques are a complete disqualifier, I will say that when these issues are combined, it caused people that I ordered with to say they might not ever order from pita bowl again.

I hope pita bowl takes these critiques into consideration in the future, and ill be ordering from them down the road to see if things hopefully improved.
