Iv lived in Lindenhurst my whole life and have frequented this diner occasionally. It has never been amazing but the staff was at least polite. Tonight I took my daughter and sat at the counter for milkshakes and some soup and Mac n cheese. Nothing big: we didnāt bother anyone and barely asked for anything. My waiter was good and so was one of the bus boys (who has always been amazing and has always went above and beyond anytime I went- he is the star of the diner as far as Iām concerned) My issue was with one of the girls who was doing take outs. My first interaction was with her was when we first walked in and she gave us menus to sit at the counter did not smile barely said hello OK I just didnāt really even notice that so me and my daughter were heading out to leave and my daughter started coughing and was asking for some water because all we had was milkshakes. We did not have anything else to drink. Sheās six and she was coughing so I couldnāt find my waiter and that girl was right in front of us scooping ice cream within arms reach, so I said excuse me twice she didnāt turn around and then I just asked can my daughter have a water she has something in the throat and she turned around and just stared at me said nothing and literally gave me a look like āI didnāt answer you for a reasonā I was so shocked and my waiter had just been walking up to deliver me my check, so I was able to ask him, but that was not even the end of it so I went up to be rung up and I mustāve walked to the wrong register that same girl came up grabbed my check and took me to the other register still rude as can be and I was still in shock over it. Listen if you hate your job that much, QUIT. Or FAKE IT. atleast pretend to be kind and accommodating: you work in food service with an attitude like that? I donāt care if she was busy because iv been a waitress for 15 years and not once have I ever treated someone like that especially with a freakin child whoās coughing and needed water. Unacceptable I was going to say something right then but I figured that wouldnāt be good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile the staff and service is very nice, the food - eh. The first time I went, my wife and I went because we were interested in the Vegan menu, and truly appreciate that they are the only LI diner to offer such an extensive, apps to desserts, menu for plant-based eaters.THANK YOU! I had the impossible meat (tacos), she a bean burger. Both pretty good. I also tried the cauliflower bite/wings which were DELICIOUS, and she the hummus platter. The hummus was delicious, but the platter was served with some pita chips and the regular, old, rounded, bite-sized Tostitos. I was shocked that they just popped open a bag of those infamous snacks and threw those on the side. Why not some carrots sticks, peppers, cucumbers, etc.? Make it a healthier vegan option not just fatty pita bread pieces and highly processed Tostito chips. I tried the diner again yesterday (6/18/21) with two friends, and they were so sadly disappointed. The burger buns were dry beyond consumption, and I felt like a dope for suggesting the place. It was after noon too, and when I asked for a baked potato instead of fries, they didn't have any. Again, really? I really wish they'd tweaked the menu a bit to make the vegan, plant-based options a little healthier, and all the suggestions I would advise don't alter the menu much, nor are they super expensive. Anyway, I don't think I'll be returning unless I really need a vegan fix that's not possible to get somewhere else (which it is at the International Delight Cafe in Bellmore). While I appreciate the effort, there's no reason for a bad burger bun (they sell those along with the tostitos in the store and make really good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame here for lunch and dinner on separate occasions and would be eager to come back for breakfast as well. As it is naturally a diner staple.
Atmosphere is exactly the traditional diner look you come to expect, plenty of bright colors and chrome, kicks you right in the nostalgia. But nothing is actually "old" either which is a plus. Both times I've gone staff have been friendly and helpful but just a touch slow to attend to my groups, but not egregiously so. Parking is pretty easy in the attached lot, plus some options on the side streets nearby if the place is really hopping.
Food is very tasty and like any good, has a million choices to choose from. I've tried their Buffalo chicken caesar wrap, the chicken bacon ranch wrap, and the beef gyro. The gyro and the Buffalo Caesar were my favorite. Shout out to their fries though! Normally diner fries are nothing to write home to mom about, but their's are nice and crispy, and dare I say are nearly a highlight of the meal. One thing to appreciate as well, although I'm not vegan, they do offer a lot of vegan options, way more than any diner I've been to before. I was also very tantilized by their delicious sounding dessert options, but I controlled myself and saved it for another day. Prices are great for what you get, as things have got more expensive recently, the menu has managed to stay reasonable, making the bang for your buck feel...
