La Familia Katonah | Pizza | Katonah NY — Restaurant in Town of Bedford

I stopped in one evening recently just looking for a quick bite before making the 20-25 min. trip home. I had heard that the food here was very good but since I'm rarely in the Katonah area I had never been here before. I ordered a Cheese Calzone and it was absolutely delicious! It was almost as large as the plate and filled with an overflowing amount of delicious ricotta and mozzarella. But what was the most surprising part was when I ordered the calzone they proceeded to make it from scratch! Now I didn't know about this when I ordered the calzone and had never even heard of it being done that way anywhere else whenever I have ever ordered a calzone, which I do quite often! So I am waiting and waiting now for over 20 minutes at this point and the place was just about empty. AND I had also told them that I only wanted it warmed and NOT TOO HOT PLEASE so I couldn't imagine what was taking so long. Finally when someone came out from the back I quickly went up to the counter and asked him what happened to my calzone and that's when he tells me that they make it from scratch! He said it to me like I should know this and turned and went back to the kitchen. I should also mention here that there were at least 3 men working there that night too. Well, I had to wait at least another 10 minutes before my calzone arrived. Total waiting time 30 MINUTES! I know cause I stared at the clock on their wall the whole time!!! If I had known all this I would have just ordered a slice of pizza from the pies that were sitting out on the counter! That's why I only gave them 4 Stars out of 5! The Service was Terrible and when they served my calzone they didn't even apologize for the delay!!! If it wasn't so delicious they would have gotten less than that. 4.5 is about right. Great place. Atmosphere is great...nice little community Italian/New York/pizzeria. Staff is very friendly and polite. Recently had chicken marsala with a side of spaghetti and a side of broccoli sautéed with garlic and oil. The chicken marsala was very good but a tad bit "sweet". The spaghetti was on point. The broccoli with garlic and oil tasted very good, really took on that garlic flavor...I just wish it was a little more crispy...I think it was overcooked and very soft...and it might have killed the nutrients...I eat my veggies to try to stay healthy. But I really like this place. OH! I had a slice of pizza too which was average...but average pizza in Westchester...

You guys are the best we mostly order delivery or occasionally pickup meant to be delivery 🫣. They always wanna help make it easier know our likes and orders. Brought my pickup order to car when I had a new baby who fell asleep, so I didn’t have to get out. OFFERED not even had to ask. Now today we ordered probably the least smallest order we’ve ever made and they threw in garlic knots On the house. I mean did they know I wanted them but forgot to order.
