Tea House Asian Bistro — Restaurant in Town of Bethlehem

A friend recommended this restaurant for great sushi and mentioned you can order online for pickup. We tried it out. I sent in my order and picked a time that was 10 minutes after the soonest available pick up time. The guy in front of me in line for pick up was having trouble because they couldn't seem to find his phone-in order. After going back and forth for 5 min and starting to place the order again, the order was brought to the counter ready to go. The poor guy was getting exasperated because he had called it in and they couldn't find it when his finished food appeared. I finally get to pick up my food but it's not ready. It took them until 33 minutes after my pick up time to deliver my food. If I hadn't paid online I would have walked out. There were only 2 people eating in the restaurant at the time. The sushi tasted great, but probably won't be going back because...

Just meh. Salt and pepper squid ..all salt and soggy tempura batter, no pepper. The Sushi... just ok, not the freshest...more rice/seaweed than fish. For the money spent we wanted to be 'wowed'. We weren't. (Over $60 for 2 for a light lunch with no bar bill) Salads were new...but not fresh, if that makes any sense. You could tell they were fresh made, but the produce wasn't fresh, the greens were limp and browned on the edges, floppy/soggy cucumbers. The salad dressing (kind of an Asian take on Russian dressing with lots of grated horseradish) was very good. Staff...super friendly and nice. Restaurant....super clean. Food....meh, the owner could do better when it comes to the quality and freshness of product for that price point. As far as a restaurant rating, it's just OK. Tea House has some of the freshest sushi at some of the most reasonable prices in the Capital District. The salmon here is second to none.

Not a fan of the raw stuff? No problem. All white meat General Tso's chicken, Sesame Chicken, Chicken and Broccoli - pretty much anything you'd get at a normal Chinese Take Out spot is better here. They deliver too!

I grew up in the area eating Great Wall and Gold Coin, even driving from Slingerlands to Glenmont to pick up West Wok because they had the best Chinese food for awhile... but since Tea House has opened, I wouldn't understand why anyone wouldn't go here for takeout.

I now live 30 minutes away, but drive in as often as I can just to eat here.

Great selection of fresh fish, sushi rolls, and special rolls that break away from the standard boring rolls you find...
