We went out about 8 PM as I did not get home from work until about 7 PM. Figured it may not be too busy for the later hour. We were wrong. Took about 10 minutes to get a seat, which was not an issue. Our waitress showed up quickly and our orders were placed in a timely manner. We only ordered water to drink and the salad and breadsticks followed shortly thereafter. It was when the entrees arrived that the troubles began. All was good with the wife's, but my fettuccine alfredo w/chicken was a bit of a bust! First, there were only 5 strips of the chicken. I figured paying the extra charge, I would see a bit more. Second was the relatively small amount of sauce and it seemed rather thick. I thought it would be covering the fettuccine, but even after mixing, it was barely enough to cover the pasta. Third, it was not hot!!! Generally when pasta is fresh made and prepped to serve, you can see steam coming off and the dish itself will be hot, at least on the bottom. Not this one!!! Mind you, it was not cold, but it seemed it may have been sitting for longer than needed before being brought out. I requested a refill when the first plate was brought out and the server said they would contact our waitress for the reorder. We were getting the Never Ending Pasta Bowl. I did eat the original order that came out and was looking forward to a hopefully hot, more chicken and sauce reorder. When a different server brought out the reorder, he left so fast I did not have a chance to let him know there was a problem. The reorder had it's own set of problems! One was the size. I guess I should expect about a 1/3 of the original size and be happy with that as I could've reordered again if the server stuck around long enough to say something to our waitress!! Second, only 3 little chicken pieces?? Third, issues with the amount of sauce. Fourth, this time it really was cold. And the coup de grace was it was the wrong pasta!!! They sent out Angel Hair when I was eating fettuccine!!! Our waitress was unfortunately tied up with a party of about 25, which we later understood was only to be 8 people when they called ahead to notify the restaurant. It took almost a half hour before she came back to check on us. I do not blame her as she was obviously overwhelmed and no help was offered to her by the manager. We did get a couple of correct reorders, breadsticks and a takeout salad to go with us, but we just chalked it up to a bad choice of restaurant for that evening. Even if the kitchen is getting 'slammed', they still need to be sure entrees and reorders are prepared correctly and hot when served to the customer. It may be a while before we return to try...
Read moreUnderstandably, it was Mothers Day. However if doing an online check in did not apply for this day, it should have been removed as an option. The wait time online for a party of five had said 30 minutes. We ended up waiting an hour. To top it off we had driven an hour and a half because that was the closest Olive garden. My mother, not being physically in the best of shape with a bad back and hips, had a hard enough time making the trip let alone stand over an hour before being seated. And whatever happened to delighting your customers so they return again? Two of us at the table had the soup and 3 of us had the salad, unlimited because we all ordered an entree. Even though it was busy, our waitress I'm sure did her best. However, I was neglected to be asked if I wanted more soup. As a matter of fact,I waited so long for her to return to get more soup that I ate the last bit of salad in the bowl. Not getting another bowl of salad because I was eating it, but are it as to not go to waste. Sat for 20 minutes waiting for her to return at the end of our meal as well before having our food boxed. Waitress took it upon herself to add a $4.79 garden salad to our bill. After wanting to argue with me about adding it, claiming she asked if I wanted more soup, she finally offered to take it off our bill. I said no, after peer public embarrassment, I took it off her tip instead . Another bowl of soup would have been twice as much as the scoop of salad that I had had. I do believe that staff should be trained differently. That will be the last time we choose this Olive Garden for any occasion. When a table is spending $150 on their meal, I don't think that raising a ruckus over $2 worth of salad is worth...
