Malek's Bakery — Restaurant in Town of Brighton

I have shopped at Malek's for years and have always enjoyed their baked goods. However, I was in a few weeks ago and asked if they could make me a chocolate Yule Log (they normally put coffee cream inside) the nice lady at the counter told me she would check and get back to me. Later that day she called and said they could, but I would have to buy two because of the way they are made. I said I would be happy to. This morning the day before I am supposed to pick them up they call and say the owner said he would not make them. I explained how disappointed I was and that I thought it was very rude to cancel at the last minute. About 10 minutes later I get a call from the owner.. When I tried to tell him how disappointed I am, he started getting mad and said let me talk. Then he started to blame me!! I explained that I came in and asked if they could do it and was told yes. He then proceeded to yell at me for interrupting him and blaming me again. When I told him that I would not be shopping with them again and would put a bad review online he proceeded to tell me he did not want me as a customer and to stay away...

We just happened to be driving by a decided to try this bakery for the first time and we won’t be back. The service was so rude. I had a few questions about what things were and prices as it wasn’t clear and the woman was very short with us. She seemed obviously rushed but when we went in we were the only customers and then there was one person in line. We finally asked her if she was having a bad day and she said “No.” But! I can totally tolerate rudeness if it leads to a great pastry. We tried the French pretzel which was dry and lacked flavor. The almond danish were good but not worth the trip. The brownies tasted like the little Debbie ones and the cake roll was nothing special. My partner liked the eclair but when we first tried to eat them they were frozen in the middle. I honestly started to wonder what they actually make there. The cream puff as anticipated at that point nothing worth the trip. I hope they can improve. From the reviews it sounds like they used to be...

Went to look for a wedding cake. We had an appointment for 12, we were coming from out of town and arrived a bit early. Let the one worker know why were there and she seemed very displeased when she had to call the owner. We could hear him on the phone, he was angry that we had arrived early. When he finally arrived he was rude, blunt, and very cold. We were supposed to be enjoying a happy time picking out a cake! There was nothing prepared to sample not cake, frosting, anything. Just an old binder with what looked like stock photos from the 80s. Instead of listening to what we wanted, he told us what we would get. We told him we would need the cake delivered and you would have thought we kicked him in the gut. Started throwing ridiculous numbers for delivery and if he could even do it. We were referred to him because he delivered out of town. Needless to say we will not be bringing our business there and I will make sure none of my friends go...
