Gourmelos Mediterranean Market & Catering — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

Being from LIC/ Astoria Queens.. I know Mediterranean food. Ive had a craving for something only broadway or Steinway could fix but in Suffolk you rarely get the chance to escape. Walking into Shoreham plaza I was hesitant because true ethnic diversity isn’t really represented correctly (without microwaves.. lol) but the smell and especially the culture true shelf items that were displayed gave me faith and a few good flashbacks. Looking through the menu everything looked amazing but I had to have the falafel! After being let down by every sha and halal spot with their microwaved dry bread nuggets, the munchies couldn’t make you stomach I was truly intrigued. When they came out I was still skeptical and chose the tiniest two tooth nibble. But when the home style flavors and fresh fried taste hit my tongue I stuffed the whole ball in my mouth! With mouth full, on my third, I began my praise to the woman there late that night. I explained how I couldn’t believe how amazing they were and how I would leave this review to show my appreciation for the culinary genius she put into these little balls that made my dreams come true. DO NOT USE GOOGLE ORDER FOR PICKUP!

I've gotten food from here before and it's delicious. Tonight I decided to order dinner for pickup and accidentally used "Order for pickup" from the Google listing because I wasn't thinking. That apparently goes to DoorDash, and whether you plan to have delivery or get it yourself, a Dasher will just go get your food. In my case, the restaurant made my food, my wife went to pick it up, and a Dasher had taken it. It never showed up at my house and I don't have a DoorDash account, so I have no idea where my dinner ever went.

I don't want to ding the business with a bad review because DoorDash is a garbage company and Google lets them make restaurants look bad. But if you are the owner of this business, please do something to make sure this doesn't...

The food is indescribable until you taste it. This family owned shop offers so many options when you walk in- from meal plans, to lunch on the go and friendly conversation. It’s the convince of healthy “fast food”! My now husband, Jordan and I were lucky enough to meet the owner, Rob and have him caterer our wedding. We are left again speechless as we try to describe not only the amazing food he provided but, the kind and attentive staff and and personalized experience we had during the process of planning.
