I don't often leave reviews, but felt I had to for this little LI gem. I used to rent a place in Miller Place in my college days. I would live off cheap ramen noodle, but Ho Ming was a go to for the once-in-a-while treats.
Recently, I returned to the area, and stopped by Ho Ming to judge if my college aged taste buds were clouded by my pocket book.
The place is unchanged. The same owner was working the front. In my youth I remember his kids would hang out whilst he worked. Now these kids (assuming they're the same kids as they are roughly the correct age) were helping him out.
I ordered wonton soup, beef w/ broccoli, and general tso's chicken. It was prepared quickly and served hot to go. My family and I shared this meal. We finished it pleased and with no room to spare, and no left overs.
Feeding six people can get pricey sometimes but not with this meal. My wife made a comment on the wontons having a unique more flavorful quality that we don't often experience with other establishments.
It seems my older taste buds agree with my money strapped younger buds. Ho Ming continue to be affordable and flavorful.

Read moreOrdered food for pick up and it was ready when they said it would be. I was told the total for my order, handed over my credit card and received a receipt to sign. On the receipt the restaurant secretly added a "convenience fee" of almost $2. I questioned what this fee was about and someone pointed to a small, faded 3x4 sticker that was illegible. I expressed my disagreement with this credit card upcharge but to deaf ears. The food was ok. The Hot and Sour soup was very spicy. The General Tso was without much vegetable. The Tangerine Chicken was made with Orange and was perfectly acceptable. Fried Rice was burnt. Egg Roll was your average variety along with the Egg Drop Soup. The food was OK. The restaurant was recommended to us by a friend, but i got a bad taste in my mouth before we even ate because of their credit card games. Bottom line:...A little better than average food. Watch your receipts and be careful what you're signing. I can't help but feel ripped off and I'm sure they're picking up thousands of dollars by jamming...
Read moreI am a NYer living in Seattle and longing for Ho Ming’s Chinese food. Chinese food here is just not good in comparison to the East Coast. It is greasy, bland, and crazy expensive. I have yet to find a place where you can get a pint of this and a quart of that, so typical of the East Coast. So every time I come home to Long Island I constantly eat here at Ho Ming and inevitably bring some food back to Seattle. The food here is excellent fresh and so tasty. Their shrimp eggrolls are especially outstanding! I’ve never had a bad dish. With the pandemic I’ve had their shrimp eggrolls shipped out here. Pearl and her family could not be nicer! A new batch just arrived on Wednesday, September 22! I baked them in the oven and they are sooo delicious- light, crisp, and not greasy! Thank you, Pearl, Jimmy, and family! You made this Long Island girl...
