My date and I both got The Sando. I ordered the hot and she ordered the regular. I was pleasantly surprised to see a sandwich that includes fries as a side. So many places make you pay extra for fries hiking up the price of your meal.
The concept idea of The Sando is great! The purple slaw, the pickles, and the comeback sauce is everything you can ask for on a chicken sandwich.... The only issue was the heavy seasoning! Like many (great) chicken sandwiches, there will be chicken that hangs out past the bread. This over hanging chicken was not blessed with either the purple slaw sauce nor the comeback sauce. Therefore, those bites practically punched you in the face with dryness and heavy seasoning. The heavy seasoning got caked up in the crevices of the chicken while I was still powering through my way towards the actual sandwich portion where the slaw and sauces were located. I HIGHLY recommend that you purchase an extra cup of sauce (or even better, one comes included with the Sando) that way you can dip the ends into the sauce and not have to suffer. I love spicy chicken sandwiches and this sandwich was spicy! But my body did not agree with this sandwich and unfortunately I was sick and had to cut my date short. My date disagreed with the sandwich as well. The customer service was great. The gentleman behind the counter talked is through everything. My date also loved their...
Read morePlaces like this are surely what life is about- Flavor, and the consistent love and passion that are the two most key components in developing a truly special one. Hot Chicken Mama embodies that essence from start to finish. Low key and unassuming from its location tucked into a typical Long Island strip mall; one look at the concise, yet supremely customizable menu options, though, its apparent that the word "typical" was never part of the plan here, thankfully. The signature Sandwich is a masterclass in elevating a sandwich through toppings, and that's saying nothing about the perfect level of crisp on each piece of freshly fried chicken. The staff was super cool with explaining the details, and I did a bang up job of devouring a plate of chicken and waffles, as once again the details, sauces, and ingredients made for an undeniable banger of a meal. If you're within 15 minutes of Hot Mama Chicken, make that stop and grab one of their namesake Black Cherry Sodas, (not sure why, but it seems to somehow slap extra with the various chicken options). And for those truly dedicated to the full experience, yes, the assortment of Milkshakes has got you covered (metaphorically- you don't need to dump it on your head). I drank a Cookies and Cream dessert shake, leaving the other flavors for additional reasons to come back- often! Great work to everyone...
Read moreI'm sadly a bit disappointed. I had really high expectations for whatever reason and unfortunately, they were not met.
I ordered, The sandwich, Holler Fries, and Tenders
I walked in to pick up my food and the smell was amazing! The paprika, cayenne, and other seasonings were in the air. Lots of promise! Too bad they never really came through. A literal dash of salt would have brought it all out. That and their dredge process is broken. All of the breading falls off when you start eating the chicken. That and the chicken was a bit dry. Needed to be pulled a minute sooner. Both the sandwich and tenders had this issue. Though the sandwich was a bit more forgiving considering condiments and slaw. No where to hide in just the tenders. They required sauce. The holler fries were a delicious mess! The only sad part of it was the chicken nuggets had the same issues as the tenders and sandwich.
All in all, there is a lot of potential here. Just need to tighten up quality control on seasoning and maybe fix the...
