It’s a cute restaurant and they hit a few marks but most of them were complete misses from the kitchen. Plus this place is priced a little too high for the quality of food. The drinks and service staff made our night by being more decent than the food.
We ordered: -guacamole and tostones. Pretty decent guac with borderline oily tostones. -coconut shrimp- came with a nice dipping sauce but the container it came in was less than half way filled (weird). The shrimp were over cooked. -clams with tequila broth- we liked the idea of this dish and it’s presentation but unfortunately the broth was way too salty. Plus there was more bacon than clams which prob added to the salt overload. -beet salad- this was a simple beet salad that was actually delicious. I like the greens they use, everything was prepared fresh and nicely chopped. -pallea- came DRENCHED in water (the chef calls it broth), there was more broth than rice. I’ve had moist or even wet pallea before but this was more close to a soup. Everything in the dish was swimming. This was a complete fail for us and we had to send it back. -lamb chop special- the lamb ( which we ordered well done ) was absolutely cooked to perfection and super tender. The additions on the plate I cannot say the same for; the mashed potatoes were borderline liquid and the Brussels needed more color! -cucumbertini- pretty decent and balanced drink. I had two. -Paloma- decent -tamarind margarita with tajin rim- beautifully crafted cocktail with the right everything. Really enjoyed this one.
This seems like a neighborhood place that probably gets busy on the weekends. Might be a better place for drinks at the bar and trying a few things that way you can get to know the menu instead of committing to a full course meal without knowing what’s actually good. Not recommended for a bigger/coursed dinner on my behalf because this place is not priced cheaply. I think their prices could be adjusted a little bit to add more value to the quality of food being served.
We were celebrating a birthday so let’s cover desserts:
-crème brûlée- good -churros- came warm, not hot which is always a major disappointment for me. Am I wrong for wanting my churros to be freshly made every time ??? Also it was served with grocery store quality strawberry ice cream which was also weird.
Our server and the rest of the staff were SOOO helpful and sweet. She answered our questions and seemed knowledgeable about the menu. They made our night because that level of service wasn’t expected in this bistro/bar setup. The bar team def delivered as well. Shoutout to the team for being gracious but we...
Read moreSecond time I tried it and maybe I was spoiled by Blue Goose. Service was so slow. We came in asked if food was still being served (10 PM on a Friday) and the waitress said yes. We got a table (2 of us) she took 10 mins to come to our table introduce herself and ask what we wanted. I said we still looking at the drinks menu, we definitely want cocktails and (just so happens my husband went to the bathroom) we are hungry. Please get us water and we'll be ready when he gets back. He came back, another 10 minutes went by. The music is loud and they have a DJ which is great. The place was not busy and I do see our waitress just hanging by the kitchen corridor. We decided to get up and leave. On the way out she comes over and asks why we leaving and I responded I've been waiting for you and you haven't even brought us water. I can't imagine how long food would take. Then the security guy by the door asked why we leaving since we just got there and we told him we are locals and we wanted food and a couple of drinks. It's been 20 mins and we haven't even gotten water. Can't do this. I used to love going to Blue goose and being treated like family, always a good time. Great food, great drinks, very local-homie feeling, simply great. So sad those days are over and sorry Tiesto's but clearly you are driving locals and regulars to frequent other establishments . So we won't be going back.
Response to owner Update: First of all your waitress was not busy. She was hanging out by the hallway to your kitchen talking to another girl. Second, he is not my partner, he is my HUSBAND and he has over 20 years of experience management in the hospitality business, we know the difference between being busy and not and if you actually were busy that night I wouldn’t be writing this now. Last, and like I said before we will NOT be going back. We have had way better service and delicious food at...
Read moreAs much as I wanted to give an overall good review, unfortunately I cannot. The interior and atmosphere were nice but the food was really not that good. I was excited to hear of this new restaurant with a hint of an Ecuadorian cuisine (as my family and friends are Ecuadorian) but the menu proved me wrong immediately. With only 4-5 Ecuadorian inspired dishes, I was disappointed, as the menu was predominantly your average American cuisine you can find almost anywhere. My wife ordered a Cuban sandwich that was cold, my children ordered the salmon which was a decent size piece of fish over a very small amount of mashed potatoes; nothing more. I ordered the paella that came in a very nice ornate clay pot but when I opened the lid I noticed that the paella was soggy and the entire bottom of the pot was about 1/4 filled with liquid. It was very soup like. I’ve had better paella before at a more affordable price. The food definitely needs more seasoning to add more flavor. We also ordered a carafe of white sangria which was more like a carafe of Moscato with a few bits of fruit in it. We did order the guacamole which was very good. Overall, it was definitely not worth the $162 bill and it will be our first and last time. There are too many better options to choose from in Patchogue with a similar menu. I wish them luck...
