Island Empanada Shirley — Restaurant in Town of Brookhaven

Wow, reading some of these reviews and shaking my head. As a small business owner I can tell you it's impossible to make everyone happy and being from this area, I can also assure you that this is a tough area to please people. People are always wanting something for nothing around here and or complaining about things. I've been coming to this location since they opened and also frequent 3 other locations. Every time I've come here or the other locations the food is always hot and delicious and the staff are always so nice. People are reviewing that you can get bigger for cheaper in other towns, however, I have had empanadas from those other places and #1 they're flat out disgusting and tasteless and #2, they're not PUERTO RICAN! They're other hispanic cultured flavors which are NOT the same. As a Puerto Rican from Long Island myself and knowing what the authentic flavors are supposed to be like, I assure you that this is probably the only authentic Puerto Rican place left in Suffolk County and their flavors are on point. Highly over priced ! I suggest you go to Brentwood or Bayshore if you want your money's worth. In Bayshore the empanadas are bigger with more meat and they cost 3.00$ .They charge 4-4.50 and there so small not enough meat. You can get better tasting food in Brentwood or Bayshore for a whole lot less. I was charged over 30$+ for a meal that goes for 18.00$ in Bayshore or Brentwood. I will never go to Island Empanadas again. Their meal size doesn't match what you pay for. Over priced. Bayshore's biggest tin plate wouldn't cost 30 dollars with everything rice and beans, meat,fried sweet platanos,empanadas,and a soda. My mom ordered 9 nada beef empanadas. But they sent 9 Spanish and feta empanadas in the nada beef pouches. I am vegan. When my mom called, Mary they said they made a mistake but after speaking with them for a longer time trying to resolve this Mary changes her mind and says that my mom claimed they sent the wrong ones and that the restaurant sent the right ones. Accusing her of lying. The kicker is that they have a whole BOOK of mistakes.
