We have been loyal customers for over 4 yrs. Eating here at least once a month and stopping at the bar between meals for drinks and appetizers. The food is fantastic and the employees are very friendly. Now, that being said, this evening we were with a family member who recently lost a loved one. We had cocktails at the bar then sat for dinner, there were 4 in our party. When we finished dinner we sat finishing our drinks and spoke for a few minutes. Our waitress came over for the payment but we weren’t ready yet. Not 2 minutes later the owner came by for the payments, but still finishing our drinks we had not settled the bill. We paid Emily our hostess immediately after the owner stopped by and within minutes following were asked to leave. Absolutely rushed out after spending about $250 in an hr and a half. We were not lingering, just finishing out drinks. As we recommended this place we were embarrassed as to how we were rushed out. We supported this restaurant during Covid, are frequent customers who spend $ and tip well. I spoke with the owner in a polite manner as we were leaving and he politely stated have a nice night. We will not be back. We come out of our way to support this location as the Port Jeff location is closer, well no longer. Again, great food, but the owner has no loyalty to his customers, don’t let his tiny...
Read moreLive so close so I was excited when they opened. However, nearly our entire table hated our food. Margaritas were good (they better be with that name!). Guac also good. However, there were major issues.
Firstly, I find it appalling when any restaurant nickel and dimes its customers. For instance, why is there a 2 chip basket limit per table? Each basket of chips can cost more than 10 cents...30 cents...? If you look at the menu, it’s just so overpriced for many items. For instance, extra sour cream is $2.95. Am I getting an entire carton of Daisy Sour Cream to take home with me? Again, it’s the principal. How much could an extra serving of it possibly cost the restaurant. Restaurants that nickel and dime scream desperation. That’s not how you make customers for life in the cut throat restaurant industry.
Aside from their foolish and petty pricing policies, the food was subpar. Husband’s steak was very over cooked. Sauce on my enchiladas was so sweet and offputting. My brother’s paella was just off. I’ve had paella in over 100 restaurants across the country and abroad and this was the worst I’ve ever had.
Really disappointed as we absolutely love Mexican food and live so close to this restaurant. Hope they make some changes. Will keep driving 30 mins to Smithtown to eat at Panchita in...
Read moreI recently ordered takeout from Margarita Café in Port Jeff Station, New York, and I must say, I was quite disappointed with my experience.
upon picking up the food, I noticed that the packaging was subpar. The containers were flimsy and not properly sealed, leading to leakage and messiness. This not only affected the presentation of the food but also caused inconvenience during transportation.
Unfortunately, the quality of the food was also disappointing. The flavors were dull and lacked the authentic taste that one would expect from a Mexican restaurant. The portions were also smaller than anticipated, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and still hungry after the meal. It was clear that attention to detail and quality were lacking in the preparation of the food.
Lastly, the overall value for money was not satisfactory. The prices were high for the quality of food and service provided. Given the underwhelming experience and lack of value, I would not recommend ordering takeout from Margarita Café.
Overall, my experience with Margarita Café's takeout service in Port Jeff Station, New York, was disappointing. The disorganized ordering process, subpar packaging, and lackluster food left me with a negative impression. I would suggest exploring other options for a more enjoyable and satisfying...
