We've been here twice so far and both times it's been great. What sets this restaurant above and beyond other restaurants is the customer service here. It's challenging enough to go to a restaurant with a little kid, that bad services makes it a nightmare experience, but staff going above and beyond and anticipating things makes it a pleasure.
We were helped by different people and everyone wanted to make sure we had a pleasant experience. From bringing us kid-friendly utensils and a small cup with a straw to clarifying if we wanted hot or warm water all interactions were pleasant.
We usually get a pho but here the "large" sized pho is huge! We shared it 3 ways, and still had a little bit left over. I've had plenty of pho and what usually happens is about an hour or so after a bowl of pho, I start feeling extremely thirsty. Thankfully this has not happened when we eat pho from Saigon Casa.
This trip I had seafood fried rice which was very good. The portion was generous and very flavorful.
A few additional observations to add: -Bathrooms are nice and large which is helpful for handicapped access -When I went, there were two people waiting in line for the women's bathroom and nobody in the men's. The restaurant wasn't full so during peak hour there may be a bathroom wait. Maybe make them unisex bathrooms to reduce the wait lines? -There's no wifi, but Optimum WiFi was visible but I could not connect to it -Out of all the TVs there (I counted 4), three of them had HGTV on...I would prefer they had some show about food or the news...
Read moreTo say that this place is Authentic is Absolutely Preposterous! Do Not Let the Google Reviews Fool You! It was the Worst Vietnamese Food Restaurant that I have ever visited. On travel in Long Island. It's a little cold and rainy, so I decided to google a spot to grab some Pho. I admit, there is not many Vietnamese (or Asian) restaurants around here but this place had the most reviews and a score of 4.4. What a Joke. Instead of the Pho, I ended up ordering the Bun Bo Hue, my favorite Viet dish. I was surprised to see it on the menu considering some of the ingredients being not so favorable among Americans. Well... What came out was not Bun Bo Hue. What should of been a Big Bowl of Spicy Beef Bone Broth was a Favorless Bowl of Water and Mush Noodles with some Chili Oil on top. Not Spicy, Not Salty, No Beef, No Lemongrass Flavor, No Nothing! The waitress could tell that I was completely disgusted because she came and checked on me after I tasted it. I did not finish my meal. The restaurant offered to make me something else. I refused, paid my bill, and left. Honestly, I wonder if I was racially profiled or if the food was just that bad. I have experienced going to Asian restaurants in the past and getting food that was Dumbed Down. I am Half Korean, and most of my diet consists of Asian Food, not just Korean. I know how this dish should have been prepared and how it should of tasted. What I received was Straight Garbage. My soup didn't even look like Bun Bo Hue in above...
Read moreUsed to go here occasionally but recently this place has gone down the hill. Not sure if they changed owners / staff. Give this place 3 tries before I am writing this review. Food is no longer the same, service is terrible. No wonder this place is always empty now. Plastic bits (from packaging) in my noodles. Sandwiches no longer have the sauce stated in menu but never corrected or mention when you order. When we asked, they said yes we don't do it any more. Well, that sauce is what makes key ingredient of a Vietnamese sandwich. Noodles are getting less and less. I ended up paying another $6 for extra noodles. Waiter clearly saw us finish (empty restaurant we were the only ones there) but he ignored my wave and walks right passed me and went to the bathroom for a good 10 minutes. I ended up going up to the cashier to ask for check and pay. Got bag from her to pack my food. More importantly, I clearly started no jalapeño 3 times when I ordered, and they still managed to put that in.. and when I told them, no apology. My wife is very sensitive to spice. Lunch ruined. The replacement sandwich came after I finished my second order of "extra noodles (which was another small portion). No apology, their attitude is makes us feel like we are in the wrong. Place is clean as no one is there. Wish it was as good as before... good thing is there are plenty of vet options now....
