I live two blocks from Se-Port and have been going here all my life. I've had every sandwich on the menu at least once.
Se-Port is somewhat of a local phenomenon. Even when my dad went to high school back in the 70's it was the place to go grab a bite and hang out. Now 40 years later it is still the go-to spot for Stony Brook University students and locals alike. The extensive menu of sandwiches follows a common recipe....chicken cutlet, delicious sauce, melted cheese, bacon. I'd say that 75% of their sandwiches have those ingredients, but it works!
People often complain about the price which comes to nearly $11 including tax but if you've ever had one of their sandwiches you know that they are brolic af! You basically get two lunches because one half is fills you up--and this is coming from a 210-pound guy--so I think that the price is reasonable for what you get.
There are only two complaints that I have with them. One is the service. The staff don't act professionally which adds to the vibe of the place but it goes too far. You can be absolutely certain that if you go there with a hot girl they will hit on her. If you ask to tweak a sandwich you will often get annoyed grunts. The second complaint is that they are cash-only.
All in all, it is a good place to eat and it is fun to participate in the hype surrounding the place despite their obvious shortcomings. So if you're you in the area I think it is definitely...

Read moreIf you're looking for fat sandwiches, SE-Port Deli is one of the few places you can get it near Stony Brook.
As a poor college student, you can choose to learn to cook, or buy cheap fatty foods. I like the latter.
Fat sandwiches are exactly what you think, sandwiches that are very fattening in calories. SE-Port has a whole menu list of sandwiches and incredibly great tasting salads, but seriously, if it's your first time, get a fat sandwich, preferably the "gasm".
My go to sandwich is the Gasm, I really do enjoy the Wolfie, but some of the lesser known sandwiches are just as good, try the Ruben. Honestly, almost you can't go wrong ordering anything on the sandwich menu, unless you're vegetarian. If so, stick to the salad.
The environment in the shop is nice, clean and very well organized. They have plenty of tables and chairs in case you want to enjoy your sandwich as soon as it's made.
My only downside for this review are hours. I'm from NYC, so I generally enjoy having shops that are open 24 hours, but SE-Port closes shop at 8PM, way before people begin to get midnight munchies. It's completely understandable because it's Long Island and not NYC.
As a college student from Stony Brook Univeristy, do come to SE-Port Deli, at least once before...
