After getting a recommendation from a local, I headed over to the Seatauket Gourmet Delicatessen. I ordered my usual go-to pastrami, egg and cheese on double toasted rye breakfast sammy! While waiting for my sandwich to be prepared, I sat down in their dining area to rest my leg as I'm still recovering from a severe auto accident and walking with a cane. The dining area made up of a half-dozen tables & surrounded by padded chairs was very warm and inviting. Soft easy listening music played overhead while both TVs on different walls in the dining area were showing local news & sports. A bald gentleman working on the other side of the counter prep-slicing cold cuts stopped what he was doing and asked if I needed service. I thanked him & explained I had already ordered & was waiting for my meal resting my bum leg. Not even a few seconds later, a young lady called out my name from the far end of the counter by the register & I made my way back to the cashier, paid a reasonable price in today's market of BIDENOMICS & Bide-inflation of just over $11.50*(that included a 16 oz cup of coffee). My sandwich was fresh off the grill & the toast was well-done! Just how I like it, Crunchy! The eggs were fried to medium-light. Just enough yolk bleeding out into the sammy without dripping all over the front of your shirt! The pastrami was a bit salty, but not the fault of the deli. Boarshead just happens to be a saltier meat in general. The cheese was sticking to both bread & egg, which means it was layered while both bread & eggs were still HOT! YUMMMMM! I am not out in this area often but when I do need to travel here for my monthly doctors appointment, I will definitely be eating here...
Read moreSetauket Gourmet/ International Deli has not only delicious signature sandwiches, paninis, and wraps, but outstanding customer service that make them a true Three Village icon and an outstanding representation of the best of Long Island's unique deli culture.
I went to the deli only a few minutes before closing time (unbeknownst to me---I hadn't checked their hours) but they still welcomed and served me, took my order, and provided excellent, friendly service. Not all Long Island delis provide this kind of service just a few minutes before closing after a long day.
The deli itself is immaculately clean, well lit, and has nice background music that isn't too loud.
Whether you're dropping in to pickup breakfast, lunch, or dinner, or looking for an outstanding caterer for your private event, they are well worth it! I can't recommend...
Read moreI have been ordering from Setauket Gourmet since it opened. Tried to support the current owner for years. During the summer months placed weekly orders to entertain my guests on family boat and had them cater every event I had during all my festivities. They have managed to burnt my sandwiches, provided cold food meant to be hot and are very inconsistent with catering services, they were late on my orders, orders were incorrect and so on for years. Not once did they apologize, try to offer a discount or contact me on my numerous complaints to employees, catering crew and owner to remedy the issues. It was the fault of the intoxicated catering manager, the broken toaster, the new or old employees, etc. I like supporting my local businesses, avoid this one, they don't have any respect for the customers. Some employees...
