We pull up to the speaker. This insanely excited kid comes on and say Weeeeelllccoomeee to wendys! With such energy. Such enthusiasm. It made both of us burst out in laughter and smile. Our food was perfect. The drink cold. The nuggets fresh out of the fryer. I so recommend this place, not just for the kid.
It has now been over a year since the Welcome to Wendy's kid has worked there. The staff is friendly and has good food still. I have spoken to some about where the young man went to.
They tell a story of how one day he walked into the freezer to get out some frosty mix. After an hour, the door was open and he was gone.
Details are sketchy. Some say he vanished from inside the freezer. Some say he ran away. Cameras show nothing.
But I found this obscure tale in a book on the fast food wars of 1983. It tells of how McDonald's , burger King, Wendy's, Taco Bell and KFC were in all in a fight for who was best. The fighting was ugly. Dirty. Radio ads. Television ads. People with signs on every street corner.
Amongst all the fighting, there was a voice heard in the distance. Welcome to Wendy's. A sincere voice among all the yelling. The voice resonated with all the other companies.
It was this uncredited young man who brought this gang war to an end. He was the symbol of corporation. The angel voice of hope.
At the signing of the peace treaty, some pizza company sent a hit man to take everyone out. This young man jumped onto the bomb that was set and saved everyone. Nobody knows what became of him but some can hear his cry in the night.
I cannot say for certain what happened to him. But I go back to this Wendy's, hoping to hear his voice again.
That and they don't have the 50 pack of nuggets....
Read moreWas here two days ago. The cashier, Jaycee, incorrectly rang up my order, which cost me an extra $7 or so.
I asked her to refund and re-ring it so that I could get the difference back. She spoke to her manager, who apparently said they do not do refunds at this location. That doesn't seem accurate, and seems more like a lazy person not wanting to do something.
To top it off, our bacon cheeseburger had no bacon. Oh, and we were given an extra, unordered hamburger. As we sat down, Jaycee greeted us, apologizing that they had misplaced this hamburger into our tray, and she needed to take it back so she could give it to the proper customer. I don't even know how that begins to be appropriate?
I contacted Wendycares, or whatever the website is that does surveys, and asked for a phone call to explain why this is all inexcusable, and have not heard back. This was my first trip to Wendy's in probably 3-5 years, and served as a reminder as to why I'm better off going to any other fast...
Read moreToday while going through the drive thru to get my kids a little snack I handed my credit card to the cashier, was given our food, and waited for my card to be returned. The cashier came back to the window and told me that my (mistakenly yet to be activated replacement credit card) was declining. As I opened my wallet to get out a different form of payment I was told that “we paid for it”. As my 2.5 year old in the back was (let’s face it yelling 🤦🏻♀️) for his chocolate milk the cashier smiled and told me to have a great night. THANK YOU afternoon shift for helping out a stressed out mom who was trying to appease one baby while on my way to go pick up another!! Human kindness will win me...
