Over the years, this has proven to be one of our favorite casual restaurants. Try the pasta-chip nachos as an appetizer for two to four people. Their kitchen makes one of our favorite pizzas in Syracuse, the Sicilian. We ask that it be garnished with chopped basil instead of parsley, and request a small side of marinara to dip the crust The restaurant's atmosphere is warm and comfortable and the service is friendly and efficient. UPDATE-1: They recently purchased and renovated the building next door, so they can now host large private parties. UPDATE-2: We were very sorry to learn that CopperTop has discontinued their Sicilian pizza. We thought it was one of the best pizzas available in Syracuse and have enjoyed it on a number of occasions. Instead, I ordered the flat iron steak with fries in place of the mashed potatoes. The fries, mushrooms, onion rings, and in-house-made steak sauce we're very good, but the mixed vegetables were overcooked and the steak was so fatty it was not enjoyable. My wife was very pleased with the vegetable sandwich she ordered with steamed broccoli as a side. I'm lowering my rating of the restaurant from 5 stars to 4 stars. UPDATE-3: I ordered a lunch special that included an individual-size pepperoni pizza and a side salad. It was a great meal for a very good price. My wife ordered the Thai noodles with chicken. The spicy peanut sauce was excellent and the chicken was tender. The match-stick carrots and chopped peanuts added a nice crunch as a counterpoint to the soft noodles. UPDATE-4: This time, I had the lunch-special pepperoni pizza with soup. For small up charge, you can get French onion soup and it's well worth it. UPDATE-5: Tried a second noodle dish on their menu, bang bang chicken. Not as flavorful as the Thai noodles with chicken, but quite good. UPDATE-6: Tried the sausage bread appetizer with marinara sauce to dip. Very good, and quite a generous serving. Was a bit disappointed with my stir fried chicken teriyaki. The sauce was a little too sweet, so I asked for some soy sauce to increase the salt and umami. It helped, but I wouldn't order this again. UPDATE-7: Tried two new things on this visit. Both the chicken tenders and beignets were delicious. Moved my rating back up to 5 stars. UPDATE-8: The fish and chips are highly...
Read moreSo, a less than happy experience at CopperTop last night. Wife and I went for dinner (have been a few times before, close to our house). The hostess was great. Pointing out the rest room locations on the way to our table was a nice touch I thought. The server was nice enough, we ordered drinks and fries to split as an app before dinner. Dinner was 2 from the steak/special's menu (pot roast and steak Italiano). I ordered unsweetened iced tea w/ lemon to drink. It was terribly weak, looked weak & tasted like water. Instead of waiting for the server I went to the bar. There were 3 people behind the bar and they looked at me condescendingly and said sarcastically, "oh maybe we can brew a new batch, where r u sitting?". I waited 10 minutes or so, we devoured the fries (nice, and crispy shoestring fries). When our server returned I explained about the tea. She said, "well, it's unsweetened tea so, it doesn't have a lot of taste"!!?? Like I don't know what it should taste like???!!! Basically, long story short, she argued with me over a glass of weak tea. I said, just bring me a water and it was treated like a major hassle?!?! I looked at my wife, she'd already tasted the tea and agreed it was basically water and we discussed what just happened. Long story short, I asked to cancel the meal, manager came over, would I take the meal to go, it was basically ready? I said I was concerned about eating the food after complaining but ultimately agreed. Food was cold, fair, not good, not great but just fair. Frankly, I'm still a little stunned. I'm 55 year's old and have NEVER complained to a waitress and received an argument? Truly, I may have had an issue once or twice in my life that I relayed to a server and NEVER received anything other than sorry, we'll fix it. Whole thing just left a bad taste...
Read moreGave my credit card to first bartender to start a tab. It was a group of three people at the bar . First bartender swiped card because she said they were having a problem with chip reader . At the end of our food and drinks $140+(very expensive for mediocre food and foamy beer) ..another person wanted $40 charged on their card and the rest left on mine. Should have been a simple transaction. Somehow the second bartender who closed out the check managed to totally screw it up . I won't use her name ...but I ended up getting three different pending charged on my credit card . $144, $105 , $1.
This caused my credit card company to flag it as fraud and suspend the account . Since I have 2 cards with the same bank , both cards were suspended.
Either this was an outright attempt at Fraud or just complete incompetence . Either way never had this happen before . Check your credit card charges if you use it at Coppertop in Camillus .
Good things I didn't plan on using it for a hotel authorization or using it at a gas station ....oh wait I did plan on doing that.
When I called to inquire about the 3 different charges the Supervisor --Nick--- was completely clueless.
Thank Coppertop for turning an otherwise good night into alot of work for me .
Perhaps Mastercard should add this company to the Terminated Merchant File -- can coppertop/Tully's afford to do business without being able to accept Mastercard debit cards/credit cards? If you need this charging privilege to survive as a company (and most places do, make sure your staff knows what they...
