Please be aware that Mike and Joe’s does not respect the elderly. My 85-year-old grandmother is a frequent visitor of Mike and Joes. I, along with the rest of my family members, have been to this restaurant many times with my grandmother. The food has always been nothing special, but because she’s always enjoyed the food, we go often. However, after her experience today, we will not be back. My grandmother and aunt ordered meals off of the lunch menu and they were charged from the dinner menu. When they asked the waiter about it, he told them that he did not know they wanted the lunch menu (despite the fact that it was ONE PM) And said that he couldn’t tell what they were pointing to on the iPads that they have in the restaurant because he was tall, and there was a glare… He was rude and unapologetic. He did not fix the bill And insisted that they received the dinner menu items so they would be charged for the dinner price. Please keep in mind that they did not receive a salad or bread like you normally would with a dinner meal. When they called back later because it was bothering them that they paid more than expected, and that the waiter was so rude, he answered the phone and then claimed that he was one of the owners. He did not give them any type of refund or offer any reimbursement or coupons in any way. If you visit their Instagram, I think it is safe to say that they are more concerned with the views on Instagram and their likes on their inappropriate posts rather than true customer appreciation and interactions.    Read moreThere are a lot of pizzeria places, around the greater Carmel/Mahopac area. This one has been our favorite and go to place for about 3 years now. We order at least once a month. Great choice of specialty pizzas. Really Good sandwiches and plates. Owners are very cool too. So by now you are probably wondering why we gave only 4 stars overall with a 3 star for service section. It's simply, they been getting very sloppy lately, especially for deliveries. Some examples: the pie has been coming to us cut uneven and also with ghost cuts, meaning there is a line where its cut, but you can't grab it, because its not all the way through. Luckily we own a pizza wheel. Now, places get busy, and from time to time its gonna happen. Three times in a row? That's a problem. Driver also likes to put the extra items on the pizza box, usually resulting in a dent and us scraping the cheese off the roof of carton. Menu hasn't been updated in almost a year. Many items are more expensive now. That's fine, things go up, but they need to print up new menus. $3 delivery charge? Should be for out of town or no tippers. We live 1.5 miles away and always tip at least $5, and thats for one pizza pie. Young lady on phone, always sounds annoyed and we are always kind and polite, even after disappointments. Wife says to me tonight, these guys don't care anymore about their customers. Gonna take a break and try them a couple months from now. Overall food is still really good. Its just all these...
Read moreIt’s become a goal of mine to really go out of my comfort zone and try new pizza whenever possible. My first experience here left me with mixed feelings of excitement and a small amount of disappointment. Let’s break down the actual pizza.
The cheese - Decent. Not to oily.
The flop - Very good! Sturdy enough to taco even the first bite if that’s your technique.
The sauce - This is where you lost me mike and joe... I can’t seem to put a finger on it but something is missing. I was expecting bold flavors but I was left with a somewhat confusing bite and a lackluster taste. Was it the flavor of the sauce? Was it the amount? I’m not sure. But something leads me to believe the sauce is the weakest link of this pie.
Toppings - I was extremely underwhelmed by the amount of pepperoni slices they put on the pizza. This is a determining factor when it comes to raiting a pie in my book because wherever I go it’s always a pepperoni pizza.
The crust - Outstanding! It defied all odds. Truly it was the only redeeming factor after the first bite and it did not disappoint.
Suggestion... Try some new sauce or maybe some seasoning. Other then that I’d probably scale the pizza at a solid 7 out of 10. Which is not bad for Mahopac.
Customer service... nothing to write home about.
Inevitably I’ll find myself revisiting mike and joes, however the search for a 10 out of 10 pizza continues. Solid attempt mike maybe joe can step...
