As part of a 5 top, I was sitting at an unset table for over 20 minutes when suddenly the owner drives up and heads straight to the kitchen. I knew that this was not going to go well. I soon learned that the Chef just quit. 25 minutes after sitting down our waiter brings menu's, takes our drink orders and takes the basket that the cold hard bread was in. The bread we had to pull apart and drag through the wrapped butter pat because we still had no silverware or napkins. The drinks come and we order. Appetizers all around, two pizzas and 3 in the party ellect to have a second appetizer as their main. A fair amount of time later and moments before the food hits the table we are presented with enough silverware for four and told that they would be right back with the rest. Next three of the four mussel dishes arrive and two of them are cold. Then two pizzas arrive. When the clams land on the table the waiter is reminded that the clams can't be consumed without the fork that still hasn't made it to the table. Five minutes later, one from the party goes into the bar and gets napkins and a fork. Clams are now cold. A while later, a fork is brought to the table. As we wait for the refire, pizza and drinks are consumed. That's when Mr I can't do that shows up to clear some of the plates. We're asked if we need anything (besides our food) and a request is made for a second round. "I can't do that " is the reply and apparently the end of the conversation. A request was then made to get someone who can and that fell on deaf ears. A third request was made with the express request for our waiter and that appeared to be an imposition. Drinks were brought and eventually refires were served yet two of the appetizers never came. They were reordered and came right before we requested the check.
The food was delicious, once it arrived hot, and the semolina pizza was a real hit! The service however was a cluster füćk with a side of attitude forgetfulness and laziness.
Worst part is that this restaurant was recommended by a family member who...
Read moreMy mother came here a while back for a party and liked the food and she wanted to come here for her birthday. When we got there we went in and were told without a reservation we needed to go to the upper level. We get there and are told without a reservation we can only sit at the tall tables or the upper balcony. There was no way my 5'2" 75 year old mother was getting onto the tall chairs and the upper balcony is up a narrow, winding, uneven stone stairway that my mother only made about halfway up before losing her balance and nearly falling. It was at this point we decided to leave. The girl did follow us out and offer us the patio, but since it was 50 degrees outside that was not happening, and then she asked us to wait so she could come up with something but we had already had enough of being treated this way, so we left and ended up going to Chili's in Somers (which to be honest we both enjoyed very much).
Let me be clear, I am not against the idea of reservations; in fact I think every restaurant should allow for reservations. But there should also be a certain allowance for walk-ins, and not just difficult to access seating like this place. It's one thing to walk in and see no open tables, it's quite a other to walk in and see half the tables empty but still be treated as an outcast.
This place definitely left a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended) and I would not ever consider going back.
I would also like to point out that this place is an ADA nightmare. Sloping uneven walkways and steps made it very difficult for my 75 year old mother to get around as we were being pushed from one section to another. Thankfully she is far more mobile than most her age, but if you have a cane, walker or a wheelchair you can just...
Read moreHey my name is Delcen Burke I just like to share my egregious experience at Savor restaurant Mahopac. I asked for a table for 3 and waited 2 and a quarter hours just to be seated, then I sat there for another 68.5 minutes until I was starved with bread (the bread smelt like vinegar with skunk). I finally ordered I asked for a margarita and got apple juice don’t know how you mix this up but this isn’t the worse that happened. I ordered spaghetti and meet balls, it took 45 minutes for me to be served by a young man name Tyler he looked like he didn’t want to be there and was busy sitting on his phone for about an hour. This whole staff was what seemed to be 14 year old kids who looked miserable and one adult. I got my spaghetti and meet balls or should I say meet ball because there was only one, the meet ball tasted like uncooked sausage, my pasta sauce was quite salty and dry. I got a delicious looking cannoli on the menu, this cannoli looked quite different then the one on the menu the chocolate was very mushy and the vanilla was very gooey I told the young man named Travis why does it look like this he responded with my manager was gone for 20 minutes so I had to please myself. I have never been so disturbed by such a comment at a establishment of a restaurant. I have not been there since this incident happened 4 months ago and I do not plan on going back anytime soon.( this is what the young man Travis...
