Very welcome addition to our community! Delicious Dominican food from some wonderfully friendly folks. !Bienvenidos!
Our first order was massive, three platters, goat, pernil, and oxtail. Sides of empanadas (beef, beef & cheese, chicken), two different bolla de yuca, two pasteles (very and chicken), and maduros. First, the price was super good, we were surprised! Second, the maduros (sweet plantains) were delicious, the kids gobbled them up fast and it was a big order! Third, they have three size platters: small, medium, & large. For four big eaters we got three medium platters and didn't finish (with all those sides). The oxtail was everyone's favorite main, followed closely by the perfectly cooked pernil. We loved both the red beans and the black. Finally the bolla de yuca were great, definitely get some!
The empanadas were good, especially the two beef, the chicken was not so interesting.
We only had three issues; one was the utter lack of vegetables, but kind of par for the course at Latin eatery. Next was the goat, although generous portion, it was pretty dry. Lastly, the pasteles, those are kind of a hard pass. None of us thought they tasted good.
In NYC, I'd rate Angel's 3.5 stars, in Catskill, is a five star, must eat. Very happy to have new cuisine here that's done quite well! We're eager to go back for the mofongo and...
Read moreI have been wanting to try this place for a couple years so I decided to go there yesterday with a friend. I walked in first and said hello to the girl behind the counter who rolled her eyes and looked completely miserable and unfriendly. There was nobody else in the place except for two kids laughing and playing in the little dining room which I can only imagine were her children. The woman never said a word to me as I stared at the food behind the glass. I asked her if there was a menu and she said absolutely nothing in response. It was unbelievably bizarre and off-putting. I walked out without ordering anything and I will never return. I'd give ZERO...
Read moreI can’t believe it took me this long to discover this AMAZING restaurant in my neck of the woods!! I am Rican and love my Spanish food. This place completely delivered. Not a lot of places get the pernil right. Theirs had the perfect amount of flavor, tenderness and so juicy. Also their beans! I usually dont order them from restaurants because they always lack flavor and are a little too watery for my liking, but decided to give it a try. So good! Flavor was on point, and it had the perfect thickness - not too watery, just right. If you’re in the Catskill area and love Spanish food, you HAVE to try this place! Looking forward to trying...
