The menu at Fork & Whisk defies definition: Is it a vegetarian bijou? A place where you can get a hearty meal of locally-sourced ingredients combined in new and delicious ways? A dessert and pastry hideout of delights? A curated choice of bottled juices from high quality companies, an excellent cup of coffee from the carafe and tea selection that should satisfy the discerning diner. Yup, it’s all there. Fork & Whisk provides a wonderfully comfortable space for a terrific meal without having to deal with others on laptops or cell phone conversations which disturb. A resounding cheer of “YES” to all of the above. Dana, the chef, rules her domain from a compact kitchen with a gentle, knowledgeable hand at the stove, but make no mistake here—it’s her place and she has worked hard to make it what she believes in her heart of hearts is how customers should be treated when they sit down at one of her tables. The menu items to choose from are written on pages fastened to a clioboard. There are enough clipboards to go around, specials are written on a board behind the counter and no one seems to mind if you’re struggling to decide what to order — the selections make you want to come more than once a week just to eat through the entire menu. And the person who takes your order is knowledgeable about how the food is prepared, can make suggestions if you have dietary requirements, and is more than happy to tell you what’s been added to the menu since you ate there. Don’t expect a long wait for your food once you order at the counter. Dana dishes the dishes quickly and expertly. You will NOT be disappointed. From her window in the kitchen facing the simply (but carefully outfitted) dining room, she watches how the ebb and flow of the day is going, what needs to be done, who to greet and mingle with when the breakfast and lunch rush has settled down. Small restaurant. Excellent ambiance and, most importantly, great food prepared with imagination and heart. Go. You will not be disappointed (except when you find that Fork & Whisk is closed just when you really really need to eat what they’re so good...

Read moreStopped in for breakfast and got the F&W sandwich (crispy prosciutto, fried egg, provolone and pesto on ciabatta) and it was... perfect. A brilliant combination of simple, superb ingredients expertly executed. It's an upscale breakfast sandwich that still hits all the marks for a hangover BEC on a roll. Coffee was great. Service was sweet and efficient. The baked goods are all outstanding; grab one to go before you leave, otherwise you'll regret it. Casual, low-key and quality -- the perfect addition to Main...
