Learn moreIt's not Anchor Bar, and that's a good thing.
I'm not someone who can handle heat, so the medium wings leave me feeling uncomfortable - little bit of sweat, the realization that your lips are burning and no amount of celery, fries, or soda (yes, soda!) is going to save you, but you should know this: Not all Duff's in Buffalo are created equal!
I can't speak to the heat, but these wings are sauced well, but they are not always consistent in the way they taste, which is really my only beef with Duff's. Sometimes the same wing might taste different week to week.
I frequent Duff's on Dick Road quite a bit as a part of the "Friday night" out dinner rotation, and can say that they consistently put out some nice wings. After about 5 years of living in this particular area, I can only think of one time where something on the menu disappointed, and it was a french fry order that was cooked in some old oil. Normally their fries are pretty darn good - throw some salt on them and they're a perfect heat cancellation if you find yourself taking on a sauce that's a LITTLE too hot for you.
The rest of the menu is probably about what you'd see at any other wing place. They serve pepsi products, which for me is preferred with wings, but their mozz sticks are also a good treat!
Attentive waitresses, not very rowdy bar, and enough tvs and seating to fit large parties will leave you wanting to come to this location over the original Duff's, especially with the nicer seating outside with the better weather! It doesn't feel like you're sitting in a cave and actually has parking, which is ALWAYS a plus when I'm going out to eat in Buffalo.
Until next...
Read moreEverytime I dine in the owner or manager guy stares at my husband and I. He makes us very uncomfortable. I hate it. And now he's not alone. He stands with certain waitresses and stares at us while we perceive they are talking about since that are starring and pointing. But that doesn't keep us away because we love the wings. Also there is a wonderful waitress who we always try and sit in her section because she's so great. So lately we've been picking up rather than dine in. The last visit our food wasn't ready yet so we decided to have a drink while we waited. It took almost 5 minutes before we asked her for our drinks. Gave my husband his beer. She then proceeded to make two other orders before mine. When she made my drink she spilled it while making it. I finally got my drink. FYI she spilled it bc she was chit chatting the man at the bar while watching TV the whole time. In the meantime before she even made my drink we noticed a to go order brought to the bar. No one said a word to her about it. We finished our drinks and called her over to pay I said is that my food? She was like yeah, giggle giggle. So my food sat there for at least 15 minutes. I had to ask for it and that whole time the host manager and 4 other waitresses were standing in eye sight of the bar and the food doing nothing but chatting and pointing at us and others. We got new fries but the wings were awful. Those are words I've never said about the wings before. I wish I didn't love the wings there so much. Anymore incidents like that I'm going to...
Read moreI came to Buffalo a couple of months ago, for business, and Duff’s Famous Wings was recommended to me by a friend who used to live in the area. The previous time, I stopped at another location and the service and the food, both made for a phenomenal foodie experience.
I returned to Buffalo again for work and immediately I knew...I was going back to Duff’s. However, this time I was staying at a different hotel and this location was closer.
Hopeful to relive the previous amazing experience, I walked in and grabbed a seat, where I waited...and waited, and waited. I was eventually greeted and my drink order was taken, but only after just over 10 minutes had passed. The plus side was that my food came out within a minute of my drink order, which was great. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the previous Duff’s location and was mediocre, at best. I ordered the same exact thing as my previous visit and the other location, but didn’t have the “wow factor” that the first location did. Also, I never received a drink refill and only saw the waitress when it was obvious that I was done with my meal (waiting for about 10 minutes) and had to ask for the check, as she passed by.
Overall, I like the chain and am willing to try them again, if I return to Buffalo for work again. Unfortunately, I probably would not visit this specific location again due to the...
