El Pulpo — Restaurant in Town of Chenango

On March 3rd I physically went to the restaurant at 1:00pm and placed a take out to be picked up at 4:15 pm. I explained that I would need that order to be ready at 4:15pm because I have a business meeting at 4:30pm. I asked if this was going to be a problem and I was assured several times that the order would be ready to go at 4:15pm. I arrived at 4:10pm to pick up my take out order and they said that they were finishing up boxing the order. I said okay seeing that I was 5 minutes early. At 4:16pm I asked if they we're almost done and they said yes. At 4:18pm I stated that I would give them 2 more minutes and I would have to leave without the order and the girl went into the kitchen and came back out with the order invoice and proceeded to add up the total and then told me the total. I said that I wasn't going to pay because the order was still not out and said that I was going to have to leave without the order. Just as I was turning to leave the man that I placed the order with who I think was the manager or owner of the restaurant came out of the kitchen with the order so I did pay for and took order.

As I was paying for the order I expressed to him my disappointment which he never acknowledged without as much as an apology. I was told previously by several people that their food is excellent but their service is very slow whether you order there or order takeout. That is the reason that I placed the order 3 hours in advance. With that much of a lead time and the garauntee that it would be ready for the time needed I expected that the order would be waiting for me as I arrived. Whether I give them another chance to eat here again I WILL NOT ORDER A TAKE OUT ORDER FOR A TIME SENSITIVE MEETING! Obviously they cannot handle something like that. Everyone was satisfied with the food including me. I was 10 minutes late for the meeting cause by the time I left it was 4:25pm.

Our first time there, I read all these great reviews but we were both very disappointed. We went for lunch. First, upon entering, the windows were so filthy that it made me wonder how clean everything else was. Appearance means alot. I thought well maybe the food will be good but no it wasn't. The chips and salsa were brought out first and that was good. I asked for bean dip and they brought out a plate of runny refried beans, literally a thin layer on the plate. This is not bean dip to me but we ate it, it was OK. I ordered a taco with carnita meat, it was flavorless and dry along with an enchilada which was the same. My boyfriend ordered a burrito that had burger and onions in it, a taco that was the same also flavorless. It was very generic and blah. I ordered a water and he had a soda, the bill was $33. I didn't realize the skimpy plate of beans (bean dip?) was $7 and a side of sour cream was $2.50. The total amount was way too much for a lunch that wasn't even mediocre. I have no complaints on the service we got, our waitress was nice and attentive, but that wasn't enough for us to ever go back. As I write this, my stomach isn't settling well either. I was just there earlier today around 5pm and it is currently 12:41am AND I AM STILL UP AND BARELY ALIVE THINKING ABOUT THIS MEDIOCRE SERVICE, FOOD, AND AMBIANCE. First things first I must get this off my chest just like how my stomach made me VOMIT my food out, I had tacos de carne asada and that may have been the worse decision i’ve ever made in my life. Immediately after I left this establishment called a restaurant I had this god awful feeling in my stomach, the food made me sick. It wasn’t even worth it either because the food tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave and had been taken straight out of cardboard. NO ONE should EVER have to pay for terrible food like this, nonetheless THIS MUCH, the food was most definitely overpriced for how it is. If your going to be paying a ridiculous amount for this chum bucket food at least make it EDIBLE. I will NEVER be coming back to this place again not only because of how bad the food was, but because of how my body quite literally rejected...
