Maybe they thought they could push through sub-par Chinese food...but not with me. Ordered: Chicken Lo Mein, Chicken with Garlic Sauce, medium, and asked for Fried Rice (instead of white,) Small Hot and Sour Soup, Steamed Dumplings, and two Pork Egg Rolls. Where do I begin? The Lo Mein noodles were chopped - no long tasty noodles to slurp and enjoy or dangle tantalizingly around chopsticks, the noodles were cut into many short little pieces and was more like eating Beefaroni than Lo Mein. The flavor was okay. Dumplings were well over-steamed and "mealy." Received three "Pork" Egg Rolls, none of which contained any pork. They contained nothing but cabbage. There wasn't even any shredded carrots, celery, bamboo shoots, or any other veggies, just cabbage, and certainly no pork. Hot and Sour Soup was overly thickened, dulling the flavor and creating a gelatinous consistency that was not appealing. The Chicken with Garlic Sauce came as a half order, not the full order I requested, and was crammed into a container MOSTLY filled with cooked yellow rice, not Pork Fried Rice, not even Vegetable Fried Rice. There was no pork in the rice, no veggies in the rice, and the rice was not even fried. There was also way too much of it. Now, in order to get fried rice on the side instead of white, I would expect an upcharge. That's perfectly fine. There was no upcharge but no fried rice. It almost looked like one of their "Combo Platters," which would explain the extra egg roll, but again those come with FRIED RICE, not steamed yellow rice. Also I did not ORDER a "Combo Platter," I ordered a regular order of Chicken with Garlic Sauce and wanted to upgrade to fried rice, preferably Pork Fried Rice, but veggie would have been acceptable. Almost nothing about this meal was good. There are many very excellent Chinese food restaurans to choose from in this area. Next time I will go to one of them. This was my first time eating at the China Star in Binghamton. I will...
Read moreI love this place. Wonderful customer service! I have been going to China Star, over four years, for take-out. I order food, pay, then go shopping at Aldis. By the time i get back to the restaurant to pick up my food, the food is bagged well and hot. I can honestly say, i have never gotten a bad meal there. The Won-ton soup is the best I've had in Broome County. Very flavorful with large won-tons. I’ve ordered a number of different dishes, all have been good, but most often I order Broccoli & Beef with yellow rice, won-ton soup & pork egg roll. The broccoli is fresh and perfectly cooked to a nice firmness, plenty of beef and the sauce is amazing. I do not find their prices to be any higher than other Chinese Restaurants in this area, but i do find their food to be more to my liking. When i order I always point out the dishes i want on their menu. Ive never had a problem being served with anything other than my correct order. Its aways correct,...
Read moreWe wanted to try a different restaurant as we have noticed the place we usually order from the food is starting have less in it and everything is tasting of oil. When I say less in it, fried rice is suppose to have onion, carrots some meat, but they are putting just onion. Well our experience here was even worse. We ordered 4 meals with FRIED RICE. What we got was plain yellow steamed rice. The egg rolls were so greasy the grease was dripping into our hand. The meat in General Tao and Sweet n Sour chicken was over cooked and then coated and cooked again, was so hard. We weren’t told a head of time that you can not enter the store that they bring it out to you. So they just handed us four packets of soy sauce and four packets of duck sauce. We would have asked for more duck sauce had we known. No fortion cookies…. DO NOT ORDER FOOD HERE… you would think with all your bad reviews that you...
