Snail-like and unfriendly service. This is quite long so please bear with me. Came here with a large party of 9 plus one child. We had high hopes as we walked in because the decor was quite nice. However, when we sat down, there was a foul smell leaking from the bathroom. We were looking over the menu and deciding on the order for under 10 minutes but the whole time no one came over to wait our table or even offer water. When I finally caught the attention of one of the older waitresses, she just said “one moment” with a very sour-looking face and quickly walked away. 15 minutes later, she still didn’t come back so we asked another waitress. This younger waitresses is more pleasant but also took forever to get us water, didn’t even get the right number of cups of water, and didn’t even realize until we asked her for more cups. The younger waitress was not allowed to take orders for some reason so we waited some MORE to place our order. Another older waitress finally came and took down our order, but no apologies offered for the wait. This is 40 MINUTES from the time we sat down. 30 minutes later, the food finally comes. But guess what? They left out an order. The older waitress did apologize and went to put in the missing order. A customer that came in the same time as us ALREADY FINISHED AND LEFT. The food was mediocre, sushi was not too fresh. All the while we were waiting, we noticed that they ALWAYS tended to the tables who were smaller parties of 2-4 people. Also, this is something non-Asian people might not be aware of, but some Asian restaurants/servers purposefully provide great customer service to white folks, whereas other customers receive mediocre service. It was very obvious that was happening. There was a stark difference in attitude. To white customers, smiles and timely service; to non-white customers, could...
Read moreExtremely disappointed. Not with the food but the service. The service was horrible. We waited an hour for food and food was forgotten that we had to ask for. By time we got our food it took about 10 minutes to sort out all the missing items. The waitress stepped away from our table multiple times as we were trying to explain what was missing. We were never asked if we needed refills of our drinks. One of the sushi rolls I received had an ingredient in it that was not on the menu, it was some type of shredded radish which took over the flavor of the entire roll. It was stringy and very unpleasant to eat. More so what if I was allergic. At this point I had not energy to complain. Some may ask if it was busy, it wasn’t. There was 4 tables and 2 waitresses. We then had to ask for our check multiple times, close to 10 times. By time we got the check some of our family members were already waiting in the car. Upon review of our check the prices didn’t add up and we asked for our check to be reviewed. The problem is it is all written checks and typed off non specific. For example sushi roll as the description so it was hard for us to compare without the menu. The prices just didn’t add up. Found out there was a mistake, they said they would fix it but it wasn’t. After that I was so frustrated I just paid the damn bill! The sushi was ok but sad I won’t go back. Not worth the $180 I spent, the...
Read moreFantastic. I came here with my husband and two daughters. As someone who has worked in the restaurant business for 15 years before retiring, saying I am impressed is an understatement. There are three waitresses in addition to the boss that occasionally greets the guests when she isn’t busy. We had a few special requests due to our daughters’ sesame allergies and my waitress was incredibly attentive to details and made sure that everything was safe for my daughters to consume. She was smiling the entire time and made us feel very welcome even though there were a lot of other guests at the time. My husband ordered the King Dragon roll (he is a bit of an eel connoisseur) and he was beyond ecstatic. The eel at this establishment does not disappoint. I myself ordered the Nabeyaki Udon; one of the best soups I have ever tasted in a Japanese restaurant. Noodles and chicken were perfectly cooked and the seasoning hit all the right spots. Unlike anything I’ve ever had. One of my daughters got a spicy tuna roll (no sesame). I tried it and the fish was clearly fresh and melted in your mouth. Even such a simple roll was able to win me over. Everything was pleasant and they wished us well as we were leaving. My family just moved to Chester, New York and I already see myself becoming a regular at this restaurant. Thank...
